    +1 for the comparison site…

    (feedback welcome too!)

ability to 'sort' would be good.

    • Thanks! What would you like to sort by?

      • +1

current discounted price (NOW), or savings amount (DIFF).

        • +3

Ok. It does sort by Savings amount now (grouped per day) but l like the idea of adding the option of sorting current price (grouped per day). I'll add that in :-).

      • +2

Can you add in an advanced search to exclude PSN search results? Collectors of physical copies would really appreciate that!

Also, do you have plans to add in international sites that ship to Australia like heavy-arm, base.co.uk and amazon?

        • Base UK has been added (I grab the current conversion rate so it should be close to the real price your credit card company charges).
I'll certainly look into heavy-arm and Amazon, thanks for the ideas!

And l'll see what l can do about an advanced search.

    • +2

That comparison site is a godsend.

  • +2

I like the layout for your price comparison site; I'd appreciate some sorting tools though (low to high price now, biggest discount to smallest). would be awesome if I could compare EBGames to http://www.storeparser.com/en-AU/xbox-one/deals/?sp_sort_key…

    • Thanks. I'm working on a page which will allow you to compare across a platform like you mention, ultimately will show you who has a game for the cheapest price. The hardest part is comparing like for like games, as sites don't always have matching titles.

StoreParser is great by the way! Microsoft have unfortunately made it very hard to scan their site for prices but apparently SP and microsoft have a partnership now.

  • +1

you need a new column named CANSPEND?

if now ≤ "was lowest" then "YES" else "NO"

    • Haha, and if (MoneyInBank > 0)?

That's what the green bubble shows. If it's green, it's the lowest price that it has ever been at that store. If it's yellow, it's been that price before and red means it's gone UP in price.

  • -1

    360?

    • +1

      What about that number?

      • +2

        what's your angle?

        • +1

          180

        • +3

          @nocure:

          180

          That's only half as good.

  • +1

    Great website to use

    • ebgames.com.au ??

      • +1

        Good pickup! Canspend I mean.

  • +2

I thought shipping was a flat rate? One PS4 costs $9 to send and it keeps going up if you add anything else. Makes them less of a bargain… I'd recommend buying in store.

    • +1

Agreed. I can't quite work out their shipping rates as sometimes 3 games is $6, then 1 game might be $9. I can only imagine that some items are shipped from a local EB.

      • They definitely seem to be weighted differently. I tried adding two completely different PS4 games and one raised the shipping by $5 whereas the other one didn't. Perhaps it is store dependent.

    • Yeah, I was really disappointed to see the price jack up like that with shipping. Sigh.

  • DO NOT! buy the new 3DSXL New, The lastest revisions are TN Panels! if you buy those ones, you are being scammed

    Buy a Pre-owned 14 or 15 model

    • Any word on that the new 2DS models will come with?

      • I'm probably going to get the new 2dsxl (unless I can test drive a n3dsxl and see if I like 3d, then I'll get that). Have read all about the tn vs ips dilemma. It's annoying they did that but I'm not going to return multiple handholds till I get ips, too much hassle. Guessing the new 2ds will be tn though.

        • +1

You can test play the new 3dsxl if your local ebgames store has it on demo. I think it is quite good and I always leave 3D on with the "new" model but the old 3DS model that I have sold I always had it off.

        • @wtfnodeal: thanks good to know. My local eb doesn't do that but in Penrith they surely would, so I'll check it out soon.
There are a few advantages with the n2dsxl plus I like the look of it's design 😀 but yeah If I like the 3d I'll probably get the n3dsxl. Already bought two zelda games so look forward to getting one soon.
After reading about the tn vs ips models, about the only thing that was absolutely clear (everyone had a different take on the merits of either displays) was that the tn models were not as good for 3d. That and the lottery nature of which you'll get is turning me to 2ds as well.
          Anyhow, thanks for the input.

        • +1

@wtfnodeal: agreed, 3D is incredible. Amazes me how well it works without any glasses or anything. Gives a lot of depth and certainly nice to have the option to play with it one or off. I commonly have it on, but not always on full.

        • @wtfnodeal: Nope, the big Penrith EB games doesn't have any consoles you can try and he didn't know of any store that did - crap eh!

        • +1

@Dan83: When they were newly launched there were 1 or 2 on demo in every EB store but given this is already a 2 years old product and some think the Switch has superseded the whole 3DS line so I'm not surprised EB has pull them of the demo/display section. You'll need to ask the staff to try out the preowned units from EB or Cash Converters stores.

        • @wtfnodeal: Yeah good point. I called about 6 shops, only one shop (a JBHifi) has the old version of a 3ds (with worse 3d), so that's my only option it seems. Shops may have a display version of the n2dsxl once it is out hopefully. I'll probably just get it as it all is a bit of a stuff around.

        • +1

          @Dan83:

14/15 model is still the New 3DS Xl … 16 and 17 year models seem to be TN , the first two are 99% IPS while some are TN since i bet the last half of 2015 they switched to TN

    • What do you mean by 14 or 15 model? Is there a specific serial number for the IPS screen model?

      • +1

14 /15 is the year , 2014, 2015, you find it by unscrewing the backcover, However its much more reliable to put the 3DS on a Angle "In a dark room" and look for if the screen turns white… which is hard to do in a store .. easyier to buy and return, or to get ebay sellers to post a image of the screen at an angle

As for the 2DS, I have no idea .. but considering they changed the 3ds to Tn "used to be IPS" then the new 2DS must be a Tn display..

    • Not all of them are IPS panels even if you do get a 14/15 model. There were quite a lot of people reporting getting a mix (top IPS, bottom TN for example), some getting both IPS, some getting both TN.

      • Well thats why i said to check it.. just the 2017 are 100% dual TN , 2016 i have no idea

        • Update, Just got a 2016 Hyrule edition 3DS , its TN … shame really .. but a very long Panel change i can make it a IPS

  • +1

    Project Zero ftw!
A shame we don't get the Japanese costumes here

    • at least we got a physcial release the us market didn't

Cheers mate, appreciate the boost in confidence =P

  • Anything great for PS4 Xone or Wii U?

  • +3

I picked up the Super Mario Maker Wii U limited edition for $19 at my local EB Games. Doesn't look like there's much stock left but may be worth a check at https://ebgames.com.au/wiiu-206741-Super-Mario-Maker-Limited…

    • That's a great deal.

    • Wt.. bought a used one and standard edition on Gumtree for $25 :(

@2SeeKU Nice little site, thanks for linking, I actually found two games I wanted on sale. :)

The only real issue with the site I see is that there is no way to tell by hovering over a game image, title etc.. that it is selectable and will take you to product on the stores site. If you changed the Table Row background colour when hovering, or the mouse cursor at least it might give an indication to users that they can click the row.

Also off topic, but interested to hear what web crawler framework you are using, whether it is good and what others you may have tried that you don't recommend. :)

    • Thanks for the feedback! I agree the table needed some sort of clickable indication so l've made a few changes, thanks.

As for the framework, l actually developed my own. Unfortunately l don't have any experience with any other webcrawlers sorry.

      • Your welcome. Your update looks more user friendly now. I like it. :)

If only I had the time to write my own framework from scratch… Just want something to play around with for a personal project, without reinventing the wheel. haha

Thanks for the response though and keep up the good work on the site. Its now in my favourites. :)

Anyone figured out how to search only for video games on the ebgames website? I always get turned off their site as I find myself trawling through pages of figurines and stuff that isn't actually video games. So annoying.

  • Played Mario Party 10 and Project Zero, great games. Not sure if they're preowned though. Eb I believe mix preowned sometimes. Cheers lads.

  • Great website very useful. Area for improvement:
    - would be great if I could click a filter that shows "games only".
    - additionally great if you could filter to show "new and preowned games" or just "preownee games"

I like to run through your list every few days and check out the most recent deals: normally each day is 20 listings or so but a few days ago there was a day that was 5 pages -> consisting of 50 ebgames preowned, a bunch of strategy guides, and amiibo characters. Very time consuming to review for actual per game bargains
