Need a New Phone (Android)

My S6 is really buggy and slow, and I need a replacement. Grey imports are fine, as are 'unknown' brands so to speak. 32gb storage is fine. I would like 5+ inches and at least 1920x1080 screen.

Price range up to $400.

Cheers!

why not reset the s6 first?

    • I did just 2 months ago. Still battling…

That's weird. S6 would still be considered decent in terms of hardware (other than the battery).
What version of Android is it on and what is its model number (should be in Settings > About Device for model number and Settings > About Device > Software Info for the firmware info)? You might be able to update it later firmware while completely formatting it as well with ODIN, which can solve the problem.

        • ^this. if factory reset doesn't help, then re-image it with the standard ROM, or go a custom ROM.
exhaust these options before outlaying $.
S6 is still up there in terms of specs.

  • My S4 is due for an upgrade soon, though still chugging along finely. Is it a storage/firmware issue?

i bet your wife would want something 5+ inches. but seriously get refurbished phone , i got a second hand s7 from cutpricegadgets on ebay for 600ish i bet u could get something from there

  • Well Moto G5 Plus is a good buy. 32/3GB for $399. Only just came out. Not the fastest in specs (more mid range) but runs stock android so its not slugged by bloatware like Samsung, LG, HTC phones with their custom skins.

  • I've had a motorola Moto x style - courtesy of an ozbargain post some time back.

    Great phone thus far.

  • One word Xiaomi, what comes next is many many confusing words, letters and numbers.

1+ for Xiaomi, just got my Redmi note 4x today and I'm lovin it :)

  • I'm on a xperia z2. In it's time, its competitor is the S5.
It's just lived over 3 years now and still going strong.
Not sure why your s6 feels slow.

    • Hm. Any recommendations?

The battery in my S6 is a real problem too, which I forgot to mention in the post.
