Roidmi Autostarting YouTube on Connect - Why?

Hi, I know that there's a heap of fellow OzB'ers that have Roidmi 2s's in their cars. They're a great unit, but I have one bug that I have searched and searched to find a solution to. The fact I've not found a solution tells me its probably user error and something I've got set up incorrectly on my phone, but I can't for the life of me work out what I'm doing wrong.

Ever since I first installed the Roidmi, everytime I start the car and my Android phone (Nexus 5X) connects, it starts to run Youtube, much to my frustration, because I usually want to run Maps or one of my music apps. I have "Android Auto" configured to start upon connection to the Roidmi via bluetooth, but all this does is fire both Android Auto and Youtube up.

Connection to any of my other bluetooth devices (fitbit, speaker, earbuds etc) has no similar issues. I've searched the settings in the Roidmi app, Youtube, Bluetooth settings, app defaults and haven't spotted anything that looks like a likely culprit.

Have any fellow Roidmi users had a similar problem or have ideas what I'm doing wrong?

  • Try going to "App Info" for the Youtube app and "clear defaults" - see if that fixes it

    • Thanks for the suggestion, but the button is greyed out as I don't have any set, though I am hoping that it is something like this that I'm missing. That said, I'm not sure whether it's something that all roidmi devices do?

  • I have the first roidmi and it started opening spotify a while ago. Didn't had this problem when I first got it though. Maybe its related to the roidmi app

  • My Wife's Kia stock radio autostarts the last media app that was active on connection.
Is it possible that the Roidmi is doing the same and you just happen to watch a lot of YouTube?
