  • Buy when you get to the US at the airport or go to a local store, much cheaper.

T-mobile or AT&T. Think AT&T as our Telstra with better coverage if you're going outback or other non metropolitan areas.

  • I always buy an AT&T Gophone prepaid sim card when I arrive - never had any issues. Plans are as follows:

    $65 - unlimited data - speed capped after 22gb in a month
    $45 - 6gb of data

  • Try Simcorner…

You can get it before you leave or you can buy it at the airport before you depart. If you are flying out of Melb airport call and chek if their kiosk
is open. I know my mate tried to buy a sim and it was close. I had no issues at the Sydney Airport kiosk.

There are few different prepaid options in the link I posted above. Pick which ever one that suits your need. You will find free wifi at most places in US so always switch to that
    to save your data limit.

All of simcorner options are i believe on the T-Mobile network. Which isnt the greatest. But it will do for couple of weeks.

  • T-Mobile have tourist sims that are good for a month and cost $30 USD, not much data though.. In major cities coverage is probably similar, but it is a lot more variable once you leave the cities. I think Verizon has the best overall coverage, but different carriers may be better depending on where you go.

    • You'd need a CDMA compatible phone with Verizon or Sprint. AT&T and T Mobile are GSM

  • AT&T have the best prepaid data plans, also works in Mexico and Canada

  • Cost me $50USD for a month (with plenty of data etc) at a T Mobile shop, seemed to be the going rate from my research. Had coverage throughout the SouthWest.
