Looking for Laptop under $1500- Not a ThinkPad/Inspiron

Could anyone recommend a laptop for a friend with a budget of up to $1500?

I've run the Thinkpads and Inspirons past her but she doesn't like the aesthetics, even though there were two great deals recently.

Something around 15inch, more portable than not. GPU is not a priority. SSD or extra spare HDD bay is a bonus.

Cheers!

  • Doesn't like the aesthetics? Not even a X1 Carbon or Yoga? Very thin and portable, and the best keyboards available on any laptop. I think they look classic personally.

If I didn't go for Thinkpad it would probably be one of the Dell's that get posted on here every now and then, but not the XPS.

    • I own a X1 Yoga, I do like the keyboard but don't think the trackpad + nipple are very good looking. Screen wise, I prefer my old Yoga.

Also, X1 yogas start around $1.7, might be a little over OP's budget.

OP can you tell us what other specs you friend might want? Yoga 3 starts at $999. It might be a little dated but the specs are still good.

Otherwise, I have a Yoga 2 I would let go for cheap :P

  • If aesthetics was the reason for rejecting previous deals it is really hard to make any recommendations since that is a very objective issue.

  • I'm assuming she's more into the ultrabooks then gaming/workhorse laptops if she cares about aesthetics right?

  • Macbook?

    • My default option for anyone who has no idea about tech and care very little about performance.

      • So I'm just some kind of sheep for wanting a light laptop with decent battery life? Some people can't let a grudge against Apple go.

        • No one is complaining dude. It's a solid option if you don't want headache.

But for people who needs stronger performance or better value, Apple will be the least likely option unless that extra 2 hours battery matters that much.

  • as u want 15 inch and portable, u can't pass the xps 15, but as this price range, u can have a look at DELL outlet. http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/product…
