Where is the Best Place to Buy a Sheet Set Right Now?

I'm looking for a white sheet set that is not too expensive but comfortable, for a queen size bed. Is Sheridan a good option? Does anybody know of any other retailers having a sale on sheet sets right now? Thanks!

Some Kmarts are Open 24/7 so try there

Not sure if this is a case of sarcasm not translating well in text..

  • Anything under 400 thread count is crap quality, but bedsheets last a long time if you buy good quality ones. My parents have some 2000 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets that have lasted over 10 years.
I bought a bunch of expensive bedsheets when they went on sale at Myer and are still going strong after 3 years. I currently have 5 sets of bedsheets of which 2 are green, 2 are blue and 1 white one, all with an extra pillow slip and matching doona covers and I rotate them every 2 weeks, with the doona cover changed every 4 weeks because I use a flat sheet. White bedsheets look good but don't hold up well to sweat and dead skin, but you can use bleach to make them white again.
If you don't use your flat sheet, you can buy an extra pillow slip and use the flat sheet as another bedsheet, that way you've got two sets of bedsheets from the one set + extra pillow slip. If you're sleeping with a partner, then you'll need to buy 2 extra pillow slips to utilise the flat sheet as a bedsheet.

    • each to their own, anything over 3-400 feels like cardboard to me. I like thin sheets.

and buying new sheets every 'few' years means that can change colour scheme too.

Sorry mate, but you're wrong. Thread count means nothing unless you're stating how many ply the sheets are.

I will bet my left testical that your parent's '2000' thread count sheets are anything but. I have 300 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets that cost me nearly $500, and they are the most luxurious sheets I've ever slid into. If I get in too fast, I slide out the other side.

Sheet manufacturers like to pull the wool over consumers eyes with artificially high thread counts. For example, the manufacturer will machine a 400 thread count sheet (each thread might be 3 ply) and they'll sell it as 1200 thread count. 3 ply x 400 thread = 1200 thread.

More than likely, your parent's sheets are a 4, or even 5 ply, thread with a much lower genuine thread count.

I proper single ply Egyptian cotton is like butter on the skin. I shop at Kmart and Target for 99% of what I wear and use around the house, but I always spend big on sheets. You are spending a third of your life in bed, might as well be comfy.

      • Nah they're single ply. I just checked all the sheets in use around the house and they're all single ply. Luckily no one throws any packaging out in the fear warranty claims need to be made so the packaging was found in a box downstairs. I also highly doubt bedsheets over $300 per set would be anything less than single ply.

        • Your either mistaken due to possibly false advertising claims on your 'packaging' or you're flat out lying but either way you are wrong.

"There’s a maximum number of threads that can fit into a square inch of fabric,” explained Scott Tannen, CEO of Boll & Branch, a luxury linen provider. “Depending on the type of cotton used, that number is generally not more than 400."

"In reality, to achieve a higher thread count manufacturers are generally using a lower grade of cotton that becomes very thin when spun"

    • 250-300 thread counts is just suitable and lasts 3-4years easy

  • Hospital sheets. Durable, stain resistance

  • My 2 cents,

You spend 8 hours a day I'm bed, don't be afraid to spend a few hundred on sheets.

Don't bother with junk that claims to be 800 thread count or higher (see my comment above).

I've had great Sheridan Sheet a sets over the years before I spent up big. Find a sheet stockist like Myer or a Sheridan outlet, and go touch some sheets. Don't be afraid to rub your face on them. (No other body parts…for hygiene reasons.)

    Good luck!

I usually buy mine online from Sheridan outlet - always been nice sheets, never had any issues. Their 500 thread count is on sale for $119 at the moment. I own the 400.

  • It is winter. Flannellette sheet set from KMart at $32 for king size. Cheaper for smaller beds.

Right now I'd say that online is the only option. The 24hr servo down the road doesn't sell them.
