Laptop alternative to Surface Pro

So my screen was busted on the Surface Pro 3. I don't want to refurb it, but the newer models equivalent to mine are prohibitively priced between 2-3K !!!!

Looking at HP laptops instead. Need to run Adobe software. So good grunt required.

recommendations/experience?

  • I thought the whole idea of the Surface Pro was that it can transition between laptop and tablet

  • Do you draw stuff in Adobe with a stylus? There aren't many laptops that do stylus support.

  • The updated Spectre X2 will be released soon. It's pretty similar to the Surface Pro. No idea what the pricing will be like here though.

    8GB RAM
    256GB storage
    Pen input (preferred)
Detachable (preferred) 12 to 13 inch touchscreen display
    Under $1500
    Cellular comms (strongly preferred)

I have the Lenovo Miix 510.

    Good PC except for:

    • Poor battery life <4 hours despite Lenovo claiming +7 hours
    • Keyboard "misses" keys if used in suggested rear-raised mode. The keyboard is very flexible and unless it is flat on the desk some key presses aren't registered. I would check for this problem on any light-weight keyboard PC you are considering.
    • I had to reduce keyboard repeat rate as it kept generating multiple keystrokes.
  • You need to specify what you need to use the laptop for
If you use it for school i would recommend a Macbook air 13 inch for the light weight and great build quality speaking from experience it can run most adobe programs such as photoshop and illustrator.
But if you want some more power for programs like Adobe premier pro i would go with the Dell xps 15 with it speced out with a 1050. It is a excellently built laptop like the Macbook but is much more powerful and can handle video and image editing without a problem.
You also need to specify what price range
