Dan Murphy's Lowest Price Guarantee

Does anyone know by how much DM price beat a competitor's price when you are in-store and show them a nearby competitor's lower price?

I was at my local DM store yesterday and I proved to one of the staff that 1st choice had the same item cheaper. The staff over-wrote the price in the register for the same price as 1st Choice and I challenged him that it should be 50 cents less as this is what I was previously told by their staff but he disagreed.

Beat by $1 for prices >$10
Beat by 50c for prices <$10

    • Is this in writing anywhere on their website coz I can't find it.

It's what we were trained to do. Whether this applies to all stores or not, unfortunately I'm not certain.

they usually beat it by 5c

    • they'll beat it by 5 cents when they get around to update their web price.

Does the 50c really make a difference?

Hah, you underestimate the cheapness of people on here.

      I can't judge, I'm one of them.

      • what is the OP going to do with this piece of information? Go back and ask for 50c change?

          You think he won't?

          @WillRay92:

He's better off spending the time filling out a mcdonalds survey to get a free soft-serve.

I may be a cheapskate but I'm better off spending the time writing this response than completing a survey for a free soft serve :)

        • @pork chop:

          Its really about time allocation.

I can only say you need to find a better way to save/make money. 50c for >30mins of work is crappy.

you save 50 cents here you go somewhere else you save another 50 cents.. you have one dollar and you go to the dollar store you go buy something else.

Or aliexpress, Gearbest, Banggood, EverBuying :)

    • My point is that the store Manager refused to price beat.

My point was to answer your question in the description, did I not do this?

Dan Murphy applied their Beat It policy.-

Price matched and if you are still not happy you can beat it.

    • ahaha..that's so funny!

  • If you were really worried about the cheapest prices you would by buying gift cards at 5% off and then buying online using Cashrewards.

    • I would be if DM's online price is match/lower than another competitor's price, hence you buy instore and ask for on-the-spot price beat.

  • Yeah, thats the best way to play the game, but I've heard Dirty Dan's are reducing their cash rewards down by about 50% !!
    So usually 7 or 8% down to 3.5 0r 4%, I assume.

  • for me, Dans beat a BWS shopadocket on a carton of beer by $1 a few days ago.

    • I support the stores that do that.

BWS and Dan's are owned by the same company, bro.

Same thing happened at The good guys for me, (before their online price beat tool was there).
Even though they advertise the price beat policy they have all the time, the guy was not willing to budge on a GPS which JB had for way cheaper.
In the end he say he could beat it by 50c from what i can remember, ended up leaving and buying it at JB.

  • My local DM has beat prices up to $2 on some occasions
