How to Chase a Recruitment Company That Won't Pay a Contractor?

Hi All, just wondering if I could find some help from someone here for an issue I am experiencing with a Recruitment Agency? Basically, I did some IT work for a client through a recruitment agency. My timesheets got approved and paid to the agency by the client, but they failed to pay me. I am trying to contact their payroll but I don't any response just silence. How can I chase this company without taking them to court? that would be last resort.

I would send a letter of demand for payment stating the payment time frame from your contract/agreement/invoice using registered post to their postal address.

With your email have you cc'd in HR, Management and payroll or is it just to payroll?

  • Report them to the ATO?

But wait! The ATO is too busy helping themselves

  • Perhaps speak with the client. They may contact the agency and let them know they won't get any further work if they don't pay contractors such as yourself.

  • Hi folks, thanks for your advice, I have just done that - wrote an email to the Client.

Islund, I am not sure this is a case for ATO.
