    You're seriously asking how to break the laws of another country on a public forum?

    I can you creating another post in a few months - "help! i got arrested in china, now they're holding me in jail without specific charges or any trail date"

    Just live without facebook for a month.

      "help! i got arrested in china, now they're holding me in jail without specific charges or any trail date"

      that's so stupid.

      how would he post that from jail??!!?!

      • how would he post that from jail??!!?!

        Because he's became bubba's b***h and dropped the soap, in exchange for using Bubba's cellphone … geez … you need to watch more tv.

      • Good point, I think he's going to need a VPN.

        • nah - ozb isn't blocked in china

      How much do you know about the Chinese Internet law and regulation there? OP didn't ask about how to break the Chinese law. He/she asked where to find a reliable VPN service over there, possibly in order to circumvent the Great Firewall although he/she did not state out what circumvention is used for.

      I have friends doing post-doc in China that constantly need to circumvent GFW to access Google as Baidu just sucks when he needs to do research on any article that's not in Chinese.

        Just what I've read in the papers … which seems to be more than you.

        Yeah - this is also illegal in China.

        The legitimate uses for using a VPN is to access a private resource eg, a corporate network, but large companies already have their own VPNs, so it's pretty safe to assume that the OP is using a VPN to access blocked sites, which is likely to land him in jail.

          Quote? If you are referring to South China Morning Post article earlier this year, which does not even link to the actual announcement. For those who read Chinese (which I do), the announcement is mainly for the established service providers in China, and not applicable to service providers outside of China nor Internet users.

          This Forbes article has better coverage.

          Actually what you've been reading is a bit sensationalised. See here for a more accurate status of VPN use in China Tips for China

          Hundreds of thousands of businesses in China need VPN's to function. What can land you into trouble are the sites you choose to visit with the VPN.

          @scotty:

          If you are referring to South China Morning Post

          No - I'm not referring to the articles earlier this year.

          Facebook, youtube, bbc, etc have been blocked for several years.

          @Ryanek:

          This. If you have a legitimate business purpose for a VPN, you want to control both ends of it - not using a 3rd party provider that someone recommends on OZB.

          As I said earlier, "safe to assume that the OP is using a VPN to access blocked sites"

      • the Great Firewall

        Is that near Beijing?

    Hey mate, send me a PM and I'll send you a referral link for a 30 day free ExpressVPN trial if that helps you in any way.

  • Express VPN and PIA didn't work last time I was there.

    • I used Express VPN in January 2016 and it worked for me

    • Expressvpn worked there last month…

      • I guess it's a constant battle. Sometimes the VPNs will be ahead.

  • Can anyone tell by using a VPN in China they can access Google or Facebook ?
    Because I have read this article and just want to know expert opinion!
