Breaking my fast with the boys today with a quarter pounder, YTB

  • So when we gonna see the gourmet selections for $5?

  • On menu, McClassics showing only $3/- cheeseburger meal here in Lynbrook.

  • +6

    LOL SALAD

  • I guess I'm switching from the big mac to the quarter pounder then.

    Thanks OP! :)

Mix this with the 3 for $3 and the chick cheese meal deal and its such a frugal feed ;)

  • How long before can you order stuff via the app? Like do you have to order just before you walk in the door, or can you order today for tomorrow (extreme example obviously).

    • you can only order when you're at the store

    • So you can 'preorder' in the sense that you can order what you want but they don't send your order through until you're standing in the store at which point you press the "I'm Here" button.

      • OK, thanks. Explains it a bit better.

  • +1

$0.40 to add Mac sauce, outrage.

  • this is my goto maccas cheatday meal. lemme get this straight, this is not a one time only deal? And you can purchase it for $5 until the next deal comes along with the maccas app? (which is rated pretty badly for something that give you halfprice meals)

    • +1

No one really knows yet, they may just be offering these $5 meals to try and get people using the app.

    • Tried it today, only works at the newer maccas that's further from me. But for $5 totally worth it. Also had to be in the restaurant for app to work.

  • Where abouts in the app do you find this? I can only see the $3 cheeseburger deal under McClassics

    • I had to re download the app when it did this

      • I literally just downloaded the app upon seeing this deal haha, I'll try again

        • Haha I deleted my cache and data for the app. And turned on GPS and everything.

    • It is called qtr pounder burger golden meal in the app.

  • Lets you choose the option of going through the drive thru, however when I rolled up to the box and told them I had ordered via the app and gave them the order number off the app the worker promptly said they dont do that and they dont do any quater pounder $5 deal. Had to go through the drive thru and park my car, re-order the meal and then pick it up at the counter.

    • So they said they don't do the meal deal, then let you order it inside…

      • +1

Yep, she mentioned something about the app being only a head office promotion thing. I knew it would be faster just going inside and picking it up instead of trying to educate a maccas employee

        • -1

nothing wrong with that imo, there is nothing to educate or nothing strange

this indeed looks like a head office app only promotion and can't be applied by staff in store

        • +1

          @takutox:

The app now allows you to use drive thru as an option (compared to the previous weeks big mac golden meal deal), it simply gives you a order # to pass onto the employee who works the box at the drive thru if it wasn't possible to apply why would they now give you the option to choose drive thru

        • @aaronza:

oh, i see now, my bad, had no idea they had just updated that!

that's a cool feature, now you can order outside hours (once incompetent staff catch on)

        • @takutox:

Yeah seems to be staff not being informed that people can now order on an app and pick up via drive thru. Seems like a simple thing to just pass onto your employees but maccas I guess, now time to enjoy the $1 hamburgers tomorrow

Still bigmac's at my local store in QLD.

  • +1

Neither this or the BigMac (for which I had to argue with their manager after denying the deal claiming Golden meal means it's freshly cooked, not $5 meal) works at Braddon ACT.

    • +1

So they don't freshly cook their stuff? Dodgy

      • +1

They never have, except for the custom orders.

They have a persistent cooking schedule where they constantly have X amount of product available at any time, based off the selling stats of the product at that time of the day. The cooks just keep making stuff as the schedule or demand dictates, tossing the final product down a collection line in a giant heating tray & then only cook fresh when custom orders come in.

        • +1

Actually mate, Maccas works on a 'Just in time' system. The moment an order is pressed at kiosk level, back area is told the type of burger and begins making it immediately. Since it takes 1 to 2 minutes start to finish, any salad changes are usually made by the time the bun is toasted. Honestly we have such a broad array of burgers now (with the Gourmet range, etc) that cooking batches simply doesn't make sense.

Edit: the only time a burger is made and sits on the heater is when a customer changes their mind, but back area has already produced it. That honestly only happens when back area is quick on their times, and even then the burger can only sit in the warmer for 7 minutes.

    Worked for me Pitt St

  • Too many upvotes guys. My app stopped working today :(

  • +1

Still BigMac at level 2 Melbourne Central

  • Had my first macca meal in about a Year thanks to this deal

  • +1

Still showing big mac robina gold coast

  • Can't get this deal but I can still get the Big Mac deal. Seems like a heap of us with the same issue? Am at Caloundra SE QLD.

  • +1

I have installed this app twice and both times I have no text on the buttons has anyone had this problem? Samsung phone.

    • Same here. I got invited for the beta for this app and they still haven't fixed this bug.

  • +1

Just got an email from McD's.

"From now until Tuesday 6th June, there's another Golden Meal hidden in our mobile menu." So I would assume that is the expiry.

  • +1

    2 x $3 cheeseburger meals or 1 x $5 quarter pounder meal. How do I decide….how?

    • Well, a cheeseburger on its own is flimsy and not very satisfying in taste.

  • +4

Sorry for being a downer but their privacy policy sucks!!

They may give all your personal details to related entities both here and overseas including third parties and your data may be stored overseas and if any breaches occur they will not be liable.

    • +2

Completely agree. This is purely a data gathering tool. The fact it requires your location is scary. I would not sell my privacy for a Mcdonalds meal.. even if it was free.

      • +1

Wtf really? WHat can they use our location for out of curiosity

        • +2

When location data is collected and shared, the data can be used in ways consumers did not intend, such as to track their travel patterns or to target consumers for unwanted marketing solicitations.

Since consumers often carry their mobile devices with them at all times and can use them for various purposes, location data along with data collected on the device may be used to form a comprehensive record upon which an individual’s activities may be inferred.

Amassing such data over time allows companies to create a rich detailed profile of individual behavior, including habits, preferences, routines and behaviours — private information that can easily be exploited.

        • +2

Similar to the Burger Project app…

Social marketing companies are harvesting serious data through these apps from users in exchange for a fast food meal! You should be getting big bucks for such data not a lousy burger!

  • +2

If this doesn't show up for you in a certain store, go to your settings>apps>maccas app>clear data and it'll show.

  • Wasn't showing for me, so I signed out and signed back in and now it is. Cheers!

  • +1

Didn't work for me, uninstalled app, made new account, cleared cache/data, nothing worked. Still showed the Big Mac deal, so grabbed that instead and it worked fine.

  • +1

Still with big mac meal on my app, despite clearing cache, still a good deal

  • +4

I just got this email http://view.e.maccas.com.au/?qs=8582c6cb41b42c5c634a9d36857a… congratulating me for finding the golden meal. They're like see if you can find the next one. I just though "I've got ozbargain I don't need luck" :D

  • I ordered it at Bankstown NSW. Was a nice late dinner. Will be back again tomorrow for the same and some hamburgers

  • +4

The Macca's app is horrendously bad

  • The 3 for $3 deal is finished?

    • I got it yesterday..

      • Couldn't see it on the app earlier today.
Maybe the new quarter pounder golden meal update and its now deleted item

  • How does this work? I signed up on the app, went to McClassics section, but medium big mac meal shows up as $9.85? All the meals are regular price.

    • Try the 1/4 pounder. Macca's app is terribly bad. Some have the big Mac, some have the 1/4 pounder. The golden meal changed today to the 1/4

  • +2

order your burgers without buns or tomato sauce, carbs will fatten you up!

  • Thanks op late lunch sorted!

  • +1

Decided to be a fat cnt and add a chicken patty to the quarter pounder.

Took it home and they removed the beef and replaced with chicken ;(

    • +1

      Lol what a cnt

    • +1

Too bad, At my local I would order a BigMac golden meal minus 2 x beef and add 1 x chicken.
      They would put 2 x chicken instead… total price $4.40. =)

      • They did that everywhere. Had that meal like 10 times. I think the reason is because the receipt the kitchen gets does not list price and just says "add mcchicken" so they just assume put it in both.

        • It was good while it lasted.

  • +1

The app does not work. It keeps updating product information..

  • +3

Dumb app kept crashing, couldn't find location, glitched up, etc.
Cashier claimed they could not make the order from their register. I took my money elsewhere.

    • My app was rooted as well, so I asked the staff there if they were aware of the deal. Come the 4th staff member (the supervisor), still blank looks, but she agreed to put it through anyway based on my description. Probably could have told her it was anything, but I took the honest approach. Not sure what strange method she used, but 2 of these deals cost me a total of $9.25. Guess it's worth a try, hopefully they're more easygoing like the Macca's I was at.

      • My store gave a BS excuse, saying that their registers haven't been updated yet to be able to manually put it through

        • +1

Lame excuse, by the looks of what the supervisor did at my store, they can just put it through any way they like. Guess they don't value customer satisfaction much there, it's not like McDonald's couldn't afford to take the hit.

  • confirmed, can order 2 for $10 buuuurp

  • +5

The app crashes a lot. It works, but only just. Lots of spinning circles, and instant closures. If there weren't those Golden Meals on it, it's probably not worth having.

    • Only reason I put io with it. Lack of driveway pick up is pointless in pte ordering

      • Think I'm going to delete it. I've had to reinstall it twice already and I am now officially eating too many Quarter Pounders for my liking. It's easier to just go to HJ's with the coupons stored on your phone. All things considered, Quarter Pounders are pretty damn average too in comparison to a Whopper. McDonald's seem to be seriously rationing tomato sauce too.

  • Can we pay in-store?

  • Doesn't work on friend's phone, but worked well on mine. Ordered at the spot (app showed 400m from store) and had no problem. Thanks for heads up.

    • There's a good chance someone unsubscribed you from maccas emails.

  • Cheicken Big Mac doesnt really end 18 May, Ive been ordering this for years.

  • This hasn't expired. It worked for me a few hours ago.

    • Cannot select it
      Moorebank nsw

  • I'm trying to use it but up to selecting restaurant and they won't let me order saying I'll need to be physically closer to make the order. WTH

    • I was in the bathroom of the restaurant and it said I wasn't close enough. The app needs major improvement.

  • Anyone else noticed that the Fuze Ice tea has disappeared from the MyMaccas app? anyone confirm whether it is still at stores?

  • man this app is dodgy as

  • Hi all
Recently the McDonalds app updated and I found a much more limited selection of items in the classics section and the quarter pounder golden meal deal had disappeared.

The good news is that after reinstalling the app the Quarter pounder golden meal deal for $5 is back.

    Enjoy!

  • +1

Deal is now over and replaced with 6 McNugget Golden Meal. RIP.

    • +2

What a shitty replacement. They should have done a Golden Meal on the McChicken.

    • I disabled auto-updates on my app and the deal's still showing. I'll test it out tomorrow and come back with the result.

      • Outcome?

        • +1

unfortunately failure, had to go the nuggets instead.

  • Yup gone. Uninstalling this piece of sh*t app.
