  • damn good price… eastwoodhifi only offered it to me for $849 and i'd already spent big bucks with them!!

    • Yeah I paid $890 with dock included so this is an awesome deal! The receiver is great, I highly recommend it.

  • 36$ shipping though. total cost 815. which was exactly what i paid about 2months ago. reasonable deal.

as far as comparison goes, this model is more or less equal to the new 667/767, which i think rrps are 1100/1300

  • $115 to ship to Devonport Tas for something that weighs 11.1kg is excessive… Aus post works out to be approx $23.50 for a 11-12kg package around the same dimensions… Our 46" lcd weighing around 30kg was only $99 as was our side-by-side 610lt fridge/freezer from qld….

    • $115 to ship to Devonport Tas for something that weighs 11.1kg is excessive

      No it is not.
The service quoted is courier overnight freight which will also be insured.

Devonport is also classed as a remote area for couriers so there will be a surcharge placed by the courier to reflect the extra delivery work they must go to.

You can have your Australia post service but it will take several days, not be traceable and not be insured.
Australia post does not charge high remote area fees either.

Why not make a call and ask for a quote using a slower method.

      • Did you not read where a massive fridge was only $99 by courier?… Maybe exeltek need to look at alternative courier services if this is what they charge, it's $42+ cheaper to send it to Perth which is far more remote than Tas is from Vic… Aus Post for instance charge an extra $17 for the same package size to Perth compared to Tas.

To wait an extra couple of days is not a big deal and as it is only across Bass Strait it would be very fast anyway. And since when can you not insure and track with Australia Post for a little extra? (Registered Post)

I have had many items couriered to Devonport of a similar size for much less and other much larger ones even for less as stated earlier. I still think this is way excessive…

Edit: $44.80 via Aus Pot to Dev including delivery conf, person to person delivery and insured

**Edit2: Revoking the neg as the price is still good for pickup and if you fall into the courier company's favoured zones. Anyone out of that zone such as myself may find $832.60 plus delivery of $33.18 (tot $$865.78) at 15percent.com.au more to their liking

        • Did you not read where a massive fridge was only $99 by courier?

I did but it does depend on the courier each store was using.
$99 may not have been the true cost either, it is easy to offer cheap delivery and charge a delivery component in the price of what you are buying.

it’s $42+ cheaper to send it to Perth which is far more remote than Tas is from Vic

Remote has nothing to do with how far the sender and receiver are.
Remote area is determined by the distance from a capital city or the couriers delivery centre.

Perth being a capital city is not remote so has no remote area surcharge applicable.

Edit: $44.80 via Aus Pot to Dev including delivery conf, person to person delivery and insured

You are comparing the price for a slow service against that for a fast service. If you want to do that then call exeltek and ask them for a price using road freight.

It is $65 for an insured Express Post Platinum Parcel which is comparable to an overnight courier service. Yes it is still cheaper.

The remote area surcharge for a courier I deal with is $45 and you are in a remote area. That works out to be $110 (Australia post $65 + $45 remote fee) so is close to what exeltek are charging.

        • Hi JB,

We are using an automated shipping calculation from Startrack Express courier.
There was an error in their system whereby our account discount is not included, therefore they were calculating it at their retail price.
I have asked them to rectify this, so please give it another try, it should be a lot cheaper now.

          • @minimalist: $54.11 now, thanks for the update, that makes a lot more sense now.

If it is a comparable service, then why would you add the $45 remote fee when they don't charge it and then claim it is almost the same as they were (incorrectly) charging????

Anyway it's all moot now as mobilebargainhunter has confirmed it was an error causing this large price discrepancy and $54.11 is a fair price for the service offered, now to see if I can convince the better half to go at this :)

In terms of service type, overnight and insured they are comparable.
Aside from that Australia post and couriers have very different fee structures for their services. Australia post doesn't have things like remote surcharges or redelivery fees where couriers do.

Anyway its all stored now, my attempt to guess why the price could be high was wrong!

  • How do I order to pickup the amp without paying for shipping? Shipping is automatically added on the website. When I rang I was told I had to order online as thats the only way to get the discount and that will order the amp from the warehouse to the store for pickup.

    • Ring them back and ask?

    • Yes, please ring the store so they can reserve 1 unit for you.
You can simply come to the shop to pay for it & collect, the item is stocked in store.
Just don't forget to mention ozbargain discount.

      • You clearly are not that interested in selling these things. After numerous unsuccessful calls I filled in the ridiculous web site order forms and finally an order was created. This has just been cancelled. I apparently misspelled my mothers maiden name or maybe my date of birth was wrong. No body is responding to my emails. Way too difficult for a cash pickup

        • Hi Damon,

Sorry for the bad experience, the line might have been busy when you tried to call.
In regards to online order, we saw it and one of the staff cancel it as we thought it was an order placed by mistake (there was no valid phone number and address was gibberish).

I have asked 1 unit to be put aside anyway under your name.
