BCF Members Special - Noteworthy Bargains?

http://www.bcf.com.au/products/memberspecials/3?pageSize=500…

Recently a deal came up for the Stradic at $199. Saw it late night and the next day woke up to try and order, BCF pulled the item out (Stradic 5000), a day later, BCF decides to pull up all the prices of the Stradics.

I have got $200 worth of gift cards, not sure what to purchase. Seeking views from fellow OZBargainers if there are any noteworthy deals available from BCF as I'm not across fishing gears (just starting out).

Thanks

  • If you are thinking a Stradic 5000, I would consider one of these based on the current offer price point.
It may be worth heading into BCF and fingering one, Daiwa's sizing naming convention differs from Shimanos a little.

    • awesome, thanks. do you know how to pair a reel with rod? i researched on the lines and intend to use braided lines. am aiming for a rod/ reel that can be used for pier/ jetty fishing but also be able to go beach/ rocks once a blue moon.

      thanks!

Remember, good expensive gear generally does not mean you will catch more fish.
Many newcomers feel they are not catching fish because they don't have the expensive gear you see on the fishing TV shows.
Seen plenty of blokes with a 5 landline out fish guys with all the flash gear.

Hopefully that gives you a bit of an idea

        • wow … nice! thanks for the comprehensive write-up, appreciate the effort you put in to teach a newbie.

I went ahead and purchased the stradic. Am looking for a rod to pair up with the stradic, budget around $150 thereabouts but can be stretch depending on merits. prefer to do things right the first time so I dont need to buy more later unnecessarily.

Are you able to please recommend something from here [http://www.bcf.com.au/products/memberspecials/3?pageSize=500&sort=-ProductSavePercent&page=1]

          btw thanks for your help
