Qantas Frequent Flyer members who purchase a Qantas Assure (QA) Life Protect policy by 30 June 2017 will earn double sign-on Qantas Points (up to 100,000).
Minimum monthly premium in order to earn Qantas Points is $40. To earn the maximum 100,000 points minimum monthly premium is $160. Points will be credited over 9 months, in 8 equal monthly instalments which will commence after the policy has been held for 60 continuous days. To receive each instalment of Qantas Points, the qualifying premium must remain the same and payments must be up to date. Not available to existing Qantas Assure Life Protect policyholders or those who have held a Qantas Assure Life Protect policy within the last 12 months. Offer ends 30 June 2017 but may be withdrawn or extended at any time.
Remember, income protection insurance policies can be tax deductible. ($160 x 10months) x (100% - Marginal Tax Rate) = Cost of 100,000 points based on the post above mine.
For those who buy points at 1c/point, its a slow burn over 8months but depending on your tax rate, it could be a way to obtain points in another method at 1c/point.
Love Qantas. Only fly Jetsar if it is the only choice. Went to Hawaii on Jetstar because Qantas wasn't flying the day I wanted. Booked through Qantas and got normal points. If you are diligent with using a credit card attached to your Qantas FF card points can build up quickly. Just got upgraded to business London to Dubai for 30000 points. Good bargain.
on a related note, can we cancel this insurance now? I got a letter saying my payment was declined cz it was linked to a cancelled credit card.
