Xbox Other Region Shopping Closed Down?

Gday fellas

So in the past when games arent available on AU xbox store but they are on US store (which is shiploads btw) i would buy a digital gift card on xbox.com using a US account and then use that to buy the game. This has always worked fine but as of recently it always errors and seems impossible. So does anyone know if this is totally closed off now or is there a newer workaround to buy non-AU region games still?

Thanks!

Found a workaround just as an FYI to anyone else:

the card redemption must be done during the actual purchase - it no longer works at any other time (persists with an AU account) but if you do it during purchase it will stick with brazil or US or whatever region u chose

also, found this great comparison site for anyone else who's interested, so you can use this to get digital games for way cheaper:

    • Any help for someone doing this for the first time? Guides or tutorials?

        there actually is:

        http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/xb1_non_aus_digital_purchases_f…

i used the above guide when i first began doing it, now so far as i know this does all still work but you need to buy the actual digital gift card now from somewhere other than xbox.com (amazon or g2a for example) - at least, i couldnt purchase it from there anymore - and as i said above you need to make sure you do the redemption of said digital code DURING the purchase, otherwise it wont work.

you should know when it's going to work because when you go to redeem it will say redeem a code for [email protected] (or whatever your email is) followed by (Brazil) where Brazil is the country you are purchasing from (i just say brazil cos most games from there are about 30% the price of US).

Some other things to mention - use chrome cos it auto-translates in case you are buying from a non-english speaking region

one other point to mention: this all works fine and will buy the game but if that game is a game which is not available to AU region - so for example, Trulon, Monochroma, Onigiri, Crossout etc - you will need to change the region ON YOUR CONSOLE in the settings to location of US or just anywhere that has those games available (US is normally fine for all)

When i bought trulon and changed my console to US last night, i went to ready to install and had an extra 5 or so games i had totally forgotten i had bought previously because they werent available in the AU region.

It's also worth mention the link i posted in the comment above to xbox-now.com actually can sort all games by free, so even if you dont spend a cent you can find a bunch of games like free to play MMOs that are not available to AU but u can install and play - i just started playing Onigiri last night but this also goes for Crossout which is a mad max type game recently released

        hope this helps !

yeah i used to be able to just use my paypal on international stores and it would work, but recently looks like its been fixed :( there was a game that was $5 canadian dollars on the canadian store (bout $4.96 aud) that was $20 aud on the aus store

yeah it's harder now for sure.. i tried paypal, CC, a combo of both on both console and online, just kept erroring so the only way i found to get it to work is as described above - buy gift card from third party and redeem during purchase from that region's xbox webstore
