eBay Shipping Fees Massively Increased for Games from The US?

Has anybody else noticed this? I have email alerts set up so I'm notified of games at a price I want to buy at, but when I got to check them out on ebay, if they're from the US they have an absolutely ridiculous shipping price of about $40 AUD.

It seems very clear that this is an automatic pricing by ebay, as it's consistent through a number of items.

The thing is, it has never been this ridiculous. Previously, shipping games from the US cost almost nothing, and was well worth it. Currently though, I'm not going to pay $40 shipping for a $10 game.

Has anybody else noticed? The same problem doesn't appear to occur for anywhere else in the world, just US.

Unless it's GSP, generally sellers are the one set the postage cost.

      • From checking similar item in GSP search, seems the average cost is around USD 25 where this particular seller you are looking at is $31.20 where I believe he has a "local shipping" built into the cost. It does cost money to send item from the seller location to GSP centre and worst if they don't have regular shipment to GSP.

The shipping does high, but seems the same with other seller, thus I'm suspecting that's what GSP charges them, so no inflated rate.

I personally just bought early this month, a 20KG items in one order and shipped via GSP and the shipping cahrges is only $57 USD.I guess it's either the correct rate or the seller under charge them but I bought it few times already so I guess it should be the correct rate.

And yes seller don't specify the rate, but I'm pretty sure sellers are the ones that enter in weight and dimension, which then GSP calculate them automatically.

For small items I recommend to use parcel forwarding service where your items are collected and can be shipped together rather than to have them sent one by one.

    • GSP will kick butt if you try and set the postage cost!

Happened about a year ago when they more or less forced sellers to use expensive shipping options. USPS also jacked prices up due to big losses.

I've asked a few sellers and eBay lists a forwarding freight company as my address for them. Figured I'm paying for that service.
