Great: in one week I hope to visit the land of the Sun Tax: a Sun Tax instigated by the lovely fascist Spanish government. My plan is to have at least 12 swear words at the ready. I must be fluent to be taken seriously. Of course in Australia, the fascists here have decided to just implement the same thing differently. Anyhow, Mastery of Swear Words.

Je pense que vous vous trompez?

Also in the Amazon description for French:

Phrases to use when traveling to Italy

Hahaha, no respect for author now.

Alright, where's the corresponding Italian freebie?

And in the Amazon description for Spanish:

Imagine reading Borges, Cervantes, Neruda, Allende or Coelho in its original form!

Coelho is Brazilian (Portuguese speaking). Also: in their original form.

Negative respect for author now. I mean if they can't get the blurb right, what's the chance you might be saying my hovercraft is full of eels in a foreign tongue? :)

    • 我的氣墊船充滿了鰻魚 :-(

Actually not bad from Google translate.

        我的奶頭興奮得要爆炸!!!

        • Left or right?…

        • @papachris:

Both according to John Cleese! Hard to express (pun intended) plural in Chinese

How much for your eels, sênor?

      • I have a hovercraft full of them.

    • JAJAJAJAJA

      That's amazing.

      • No hablar español !

  • Chinese one is surprisingly decent, goes through Pinyin and then provides a bunch of handy words and phrases - not enough to claim mastery but good enough quality for free

    The problem with phrases:

You say they phrase. They understand. They reply in native tongue. You do not understand.
    Result:
Still not able to buy drugs.

Will this help me communicate with my waiter, he's from Barcelona?

    • Yes but don't get him drunk or he'll reminisce about his five auntsmothers at home.

    • Que?

  • +1

This is all good, until someone comes up with Six Day Spanish
