Chengdu

Chengdu, China. I am planning to do the following during 3 days I have available there in late July.
Day 1-Panda research base, City's Renmin Park, Sichuan Opera.
Days 2 & 3 - Chengdu / Leshan / Mt. Emei /Chengdu
Is this the best use of the 3 days and does anyone know the most econimical way to see these attractions. Accommodation recommentations also appreciated. With thanks in anticipation

Chengdu was my favourite place in China. Leshan temple and the panda sanctuary are definitely the best experiences there. Be careful, if you get public transport out to Leshan as getting back can be problematic (they have shuttle buses running there but none running back so had to get the public bus). Sorry, can't give you much advice on accommodation as I just stayed in some generic hotel which was fine.

    This sounds cool already!

  • yeah i went to one of the panda research bases, its pretty cool. Basically for a day, wife and i were walking around the park with one of the keepers. Made the pandas food (this cake thing, cutting up apples/carrots, hay) that we fed to them, got really close with the pandas (at times they were in a cage and we were just outside the cage) and then spent ages with the little cubs (not touching, but got pretty close with them) and then if we wanted, we could take photos with them. Also, the bathroom in one of the Chengdu research bases, was voted the best bathroom in China the year i was there
