Electric Heaters (Choice)?

Just wondering if anyone with Choice membership can tell me the score / rank of an electric heater: Noirot 7358-8T?

I don't have membership :(

On a side note, what do people think of these panel style electric heaters?

Thanks!

  • It fails their safety test.

There is a nice summary of pro and cons here
    http://www.sustainability.vic.gov.au/services-and-advice/hou…

Choice agrees with the government line. Electric heaters are best used in small areas for brief periods.

I like wood fires. They are a hassle, expensive and environmentally harmful, but it is still nice to have a fire.

  • Grab an Arlec 2000 watt ceramic heater from Bunnings for $34.

If you must purchase a convection heater, their Moretti 2300 watt is $79.

    • I picked up a Moretti 2400 watt yesterday for $79 two days ago. It works but theres alot of quality control issues - the holes for the legs to go in aren't aligned properly, the screws they provide are mismatched and all over the place, the lcd display is crooked and the numbers do not display properly, and now there's a distinct buzzing whenever its on.

That being said, it does work fairly well and seems pretty effective. I'll probably still return it though since the buzzing is driving me nuts.

      • Thanks for that and my apology.
Would also return a buzzing heater.
Moretti have had problems with their oil filled column heaters leaking.
Might be a recall on one model.

  • I bought the same model a few years ago after having a heap of cheap one's break down and haven't looked back.
No real idea on running costs, but its supposed to be economical. It heats up my medium sized room in no time and you can program it to run when you want. Havent had any safety concerns to speak of but I'm no expert.
I would buy one again just for the lifetime warranty.
