Viagogo Experience - Overpriced Event Tickets

Our youngest son is into Monster Trucks at the moment so when we saw that Monster Jam was coming to Brisbane in Oct, instictively we went online to look for tickets.
Nothing on the major outlets but there was a website called Viagogo allowing you to book through them. No option of choosing kids/adults either.
Paid 66.60 for each ticket and not realising it at the time - a $74 booking fee!! Total around $340.
So imagine the shock to find out that you can now book through ticket master and get 2 adults, 2 kids for about $130ish.

Tickets came by email today, with a price of $39 each.

I've since read horror stories of people not receiving tickets they've purchased and mamy other similar experiences to ours.

Just a warning to others who are considering using this website. Glorified scalpers preying on uninformed consumers.

Nobody forced you to pay it, and you said you couldn't find the tickets through the official sellers, so no, you couldn't get them for $130.

And 1 minute of research would have told you that ViaGogo are just a marketplace for people to sell their tickets, they aren't a seller themselves.

But yes, a workmate of mine got sold fake tickets through them. Turned up to the Stadium only to be rejected by the gate, fake.

    • Was a bit misleading as they weren't on sale officially by Ticketmaster at the time of purchase.
So we were sold pre-tickets I guess..
On their terms it states that a face value must be shown at the time of purchase and this wasn't the case at all.

      • Was a bit misleading as they weren't on sale officially by Ticketmaster at the time of purchase.

Therefore are you sure they are real tickets? If not, is a PayPal claim/Credit Card Chargeback an option at all?

You bought the promise of buying a ticket on your behalf - no guarantees what kind of ticket you were going to get. Have a look at The Checkout's segment on this at the link above. At least they do buy the tickets for you, but they are not the ticket seller at all, even though it appears as though they are.

Viagogo is still building a critical mass of negativity. Until then, people will keep using it.

"not realising it at the time - a $74 booking fee!!"

How could you not realize? it would display this before you finalise the purchase…

    • Google viagogo booking fee and you will see that this has happened to many people. The booking fee is not displayed in a proper manner. The booking process is designed to be deceptive.

    • It's a known scam, and I have no idea why they still exist and haven't been shut down.
