Action Cam Similar to GoPro

Hey, can anyone find me something that works like a GoPro?

My friend is getting married and I'd like to give it to them for a wedding present - she likes photography and mentioned something similar to a GoPro would be awesome for her.

I was thinking about getting a Xiaomi Yi camera, but they appear to be sold out everywhere.

Is there anything else similar in function/price I can get or have I just not looked hard enough for a Xiaomi Yi?

Also welcome other wedding present ideas.

I think they have a toaster already.

    There's a version 2 which does 4K which may be easier to find.

    And there's the latest Yi 4K+ that can do 4k@60fps

    And FYI - GoPro isn't great for photography unless your just doing selfies. The wide-angle lens is good for that I guess. That's what I think. Get a proper camera for photography

      Was I imagining things when I remember these things being much cheaper? $300-330 USD is within a hair of the GoPro 5 Black (I picked up mine for ~$400 with TRS). If it was half as much, maybe, but at the same price, why would anyone choose a Yi over a GoPro?

      Xiaomi Yi from gearbest/banggood sites can be had for around $120AUD delivered (2 week delivery), but I'd rate them around a Hero 3 in video quality and would not recommend.

      Yi 4K is a much better option but then you're missing out on local GoPro warranty, and resale from having a relatively unknown brand. Saving $100 here will cost you more later.

      GoPro Session 5 shoots 4K and is pretty close in spec to the Hero 5, can be had for as low as $300 but typically around the $350-400AUD range - making the Yi 4K look like a very poor value proposition

    Go for the Sony FDRX3000, superior image stabilisation in my opinion

    Gosh, I don't have that much money…

    ~$300 is way too much…

    I was hoping for something around $80, but I guess I might as well get something nice if I get something…
