Lost My Account with UberEATS

Hi everyone,

I am writing here to let people aware about using your account with UberEat. Currently I am living in Sydney but yesterday morning I received an email from UberEats about the food ordered in London.

Below is the screenshot of the order:

As you can see in the picture. The delivery address order is around Gower St in London

My account has been hacked and he changed the name, phone to Greg, phone number is (805) 253-7136. He even changed my password.
The problem is I have reported to Uber nearly 24 hours but up until now there is no replies from them. I tried to email to [email protected] but it seems this email does not accept incoming email.

So in this case, can anyone suggest what I can do next?

Thanks

In the morning an employee from support team told me that they are investigating the issue. Until now more than 12 hours, still no updates.

Call your bank & ask them to block any further uber transactions.

If you don't hear back from uber your bank should have no problems reversing the transaction so don't worry.

    • Thank, good option. I will call the bank this morning.

  • Any idea how you were hacked … did you have a simple password on the account?

It's not easy, it is a combination of wedding date, birthdate, name with different order of my wife, me and my sons. So I suppose this problem is service security

Your situation has been happening to customers of Uber for a while now.
What happens is that people will tend to use the same email/password combination for multiple services and a lot of these services end up getting phished and then the account information is sold online. If you Google "Reply All Uber Hack" there's quite an informational/fun podcast you can listen to on the topic.

      • Hmm I can see now why you've been hacked…

Use social media with hash tag uber to raise your voice. It works sometime

After posting on their Facebook Page, their support team are investigating the problem.

      • Good luck. I found half their support team quite hopeless last year when attempting to find details of trips made on an Uber account with my stolen card details (I don't have an Uber account).

        • wow, if this case is not solved, then:
          - they lost one more customer
          - I lost the money

          good luck with the business.

Message uber on Facebook. You'll get a response quickly.

Weird they have a UK address but US phone. I would cancel your credit card as well.

  • CEO has left by no choice of his own talk about a company going into damage control

Facebook has become the most reliable way of obtaining a useful response from bad service companies they hate negative publicity and Facebook seems to have that compounding effect.

they are trying desperately to keep out of all forms of media

You would be surprised how many accounts with various tech companies you have, holding the primary email address you can seize them back

My twitter account was created by someone else so when i tried to create my own it said my email was already registered. so i clicked forgot password they sent me the link to change then put 2 factor authentication on it

i was a hot on my first twitter account
