Sending a Computer Keyboard from NSW to QLD

What's the cheapest way to ship a keyboard from NSW to QLD?

I've enquired only at AusPost so far and it seems like it'll either be $14.40 or $15.50 depending on whether it all comes to above 1kg or below. Just realised I forgot to find out if that price includes tracking, which I do want as well.

Thanks in advance :)

You can buy Wireless Keyboard Mouse Combo for $19

      I'm selling it, not buying.

.. Unless you're saying get the buyer to buy it themselves?

This is a gumtree buyer - am aware you can get reasonably cheap keyboards, but hey, they were willing to pay and have already paid!

The neg wasn't from me. Now you're making me wonder who else (besides you) negged my reply to you lol

Here's a pos vote for your initial comment to prove it

I'm shipping it because someone bought it. I don't understand what you're not understanding about my question and the transaction?

          • I sold this on gumtree
          • Buyer has paid including shipping
          • Now I need to ship it to them - but am trying to find the cheapest way to do it.

@illumination: He was assuming it was to a friend so it'd be cheaper for that friend to just buy it locally. Then he also assumed the 'friend' is after a cheap $20 keyboard when it could be a heavily discounted $100 mechanical keyboard that you're selling.

@BlazinPast: Haha it's so funny sometimes when two people misunderstand, but that make a lot of sense after clearing it up. Thanks ;)

          negators attack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That's the cheapest and most reliable way afaik. Don't forget to bubble wrap and photo.
iirc, you'll be paying more if it exceeds the next parcel size bracket (physical dimension)

  • make sure it includes tracking, if he payed by paypal! will claim he never got it, good ol scumtree

    • all auspost parcels now including tracking, but unless you pay extra, they don't including sig on delivery.

Now am curious…wtf keyboard is it that someone would buy interstate on gumtree and pay for shipping… :|

you do know keyboards go into the hundreds right?
my keyboard is $160 brand new.

      • I sure do…all my keyboards were pretty expensive. Logitech G15 (the original version with the entire set of 18 macro keys), then a Logitech G19 and a Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic desktop set for work. But, I went to a shop and bought them brand new…because they are not rare keyboards, plus if a key isn't working the seller isn't going to return my money back. Not to mention keyboard and mouse has the most amount of gunk; I'd hate to touch one which doesn't belong to me from day 1. Hence the curiosity.

    • I can actually show you exactly which keyboard it is.

      This one

Oh cool I made profit out of this sale!

66% profit over 7 years, average ~9.52% profit per year. I should've bought many more of these..

      • Wow holy shit! Lucky you :)
If you don't mind me asking, how much did you put up as your asking price?

      • +1

Wow he actuly wants that thing posted.

I was thinking atleast a $50 keyboard or something.

  • +3

    Sendle?

    • Ooo interesting option. Looks plausible. Thanks. I'll look into this!

      • Sendle are often the cheapest for me.

        Also look at Interparcel

        • Wow sendle is coming as double of Inter parcel for me.

Auspost always has tracking. Every time I sent a package they say its included. They charge more for signature, insurance, express etc

  • The shape of the keyboard since it's so ridiculously long may increase the price of shipping. What a difficult sale to make. Otherwise you could have just went for the prepaid satchels.

    • I wonder if the keyboard would fit into a prepaid satchel? It would need to be an unproportionately long one!

  • Size (L X W X D), Weight?

    • Approximately..
      L: 55cm
      W: 20cm
      D: 3cm
      Weight: 860g

      • What suburb to?

Officeworks Mailman seems like a good choice. $10 up to 1kg Signature on delivery included. Delivered by Fastway and drop off at Officeworks store. https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/mailman-pa….

    $100 cover is $1.50 https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/mailman-pa…

    • Ah also an interesting option.

Where do you see that it says delivered to an Officeworks store (as opposed to an address)?

      • No you put the parcel at the Officeworks store and then fastway delivers to customers house / address

  • Does anybody know if you can pay for postage costs at Australia Post with a stamps? LOL

    • I believe you can since it's just a proof of payment, but not sure why you would want to for a parcel.

You'd have to overpay on postage (they only sell $1 stamps), as well as lose out on tracking which comes with all Australia Post parcels now.

      • I've just got some old spare ones that I'd like to use up, that's all :)

I have some in $0.45 and $0.55 denominations.

        • Ah ok, that makes more sense.

Best to double check with Australia Post if you'd like to go down that route though.

        • @moneybaby: Yea will do thanks!

      • You can still get tracking if you use stamps. Just ask at the counter for a number.

    • +1

Yes, I do all the time. Just ask for a tracking number when you post it.

  • transdirect

    • Also interesting.. looks like a useful site. Wanna share your referral with me?

      • sorry - don't have one!

      • Don't think one is needed, create a free account to get 10% off the listed rates.

Most cases I find it's not only cheaper to use one of their services (such as DHL), but also includes tracking, insurance and is faster

  • Sendle one of the few who are not a rip off

  • OP, Please PM me as i can get you cheap rates with Australia Post if you were interested

    • How? Cant you share here?

      • Business account :)

        • Oh ok. I sent a parcel to China yesterday…..

        • Explain how a business account gets cheap postage?
My wife has a small eBay business and posts hundreds of packages a month.
Would love to kNow for her

  • Every parcel, that is $7.60+, includes tracking.

    • … but presumably extra for a signature? If it is put in the receivers letterbox he could still claim he never received it if you don't have a signature.

      • Yes, it is extra for a signature, regardless whether stamps are used or not.

  • Get yourself a pack of Aus Post envelopes and send a few keys at a time.

  • It looks like temando is $8.11 (based on your info) providing they collect from a business address (delivery can be home or business) & they use Fastway with tracking & signature.

Thanks for the all the help guys.

I had to have it sent out today and I ended up going with Officeworks Mailman.

It looks like there may have been a cheaper option but I had to get it sent out, so it's all good. But thank you all for your help!!

This is what it looked like in the end for those curious - cardboard and tape free, courtesy of Officeworks.
