All-in-One: Dell Inspiron 24 5000

EOFY, and also my 5-year old PC is on the way out.
Looking at AIO and stumbled upon the 24-5000.
Has anyone used it and able to share your experience?
I just use it for simple booking, internet browsing, emails etc. No games or graphics.
Apart from not being able to change harddrive easily, I love the no-clutter and simple design.
Only wish we have whites like US!

Thanks in advance!

Dell AIO's are generally more expensive than their competitors, if what you're looking for is aesthetics and the touchscreen, it's a decent choice and the specifications are quite strong too.

Lenovo is currently doing EOFY sale too on a range of laptops and small-form factor desktops

As much as I do like dell AIO, you have a great point sir. SSF or USSF are cheaper to buy (you'll need a screen) and they aren't as much of a headache to repair if something goes wrong.

I suggest the extended warranty, because my $3k ASUS AIO died 1 week out of warranty (1 Year) and they refused to offer help. I sent my computer in for a quote and they wanted $2.5k to repair it.

Its piece of mind for a tiny amount.
USSF is great if your ever going to need to transport your computer anyway. I will be going to Norway next year, and I will buy my AIO (with staff code from uni) and get a USFF for travel.

Also if you wish to consider Dell SSF - Look at there website now and again. They have deals with a free 23" screen now and again

How long ago was this, you would've been covered under the ACL if it was purchased after 1/1/11.

One week off is really slack of ASUS and they're a pretty big company.

I have only had an ASUS AIO 27" (Biggest Piece of shit). I have had a bad run. Dell on the other hand, There are quiet good. You will pay a little extra, but there is some quality in a lot of there products. I work at CSU and was a student at UON. All dell computers. They are built to last. I abuse to crap out of my 23" computer and it hasn't missed a beat. University also hold on to these longer than Macs. I can say on the campus I am on. I have seen 1 x broken dell (Told HDD needed replace) and the Macs (we have 2) have been repaired multiple times each. These are run 24hrs Macs for 3 years, dells for 4-5 years.

I am awaiting the next staff discount code and I will also buy one. Just buy the extended warranty (its cheap) for total piece of mind.

Have a look at the dell outlet. don't discount the optiplex models either. I picked up a 24 7000 over a year and a half ago and its still going strong, in hindsight though I wish I had built a pc geared more toward gaming as I have been using it with my steam link with some of the older games.

    • Cheers for the post. Forgot all about the dell outlet. Came across Inspiron 17 5000 Series for under $800. Kinda kicks my Samsung Ultrabook Series 9 i7. Just wish I could install windows 7 on these. Doesn't seem to be any support for latest generation of CPUs.
I would buy, but I'm not going to windows 10.
Uni software doesn't like it lol

  • Thanks all for your kind sharing… will ponder over this.
Incidentally contacted Dell Outlet today but the chat screen was blank the whole time. Will try again.
