Where to Get Cheap RAM?

Hi guys, I'm looking for some cheap, reputable company DDR3 ram, but I haven't seen a single deal for it in a long long time. I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to get it cheap

RAM is expensive as hell currently. Your best bet to get any cheap is get lucky on Gumtree etc buying secondhand, and even then it's more expensive than it was previously.

    • Wow when did it get so expensive ?

      • I dunno if it's for the same reason, but SSD is has also been facing the same issue since the beginning of this whole year. Apparently got something to do with moving to transitioning to new production methods.

  • Second hand is your best bet. I just sold 2 8GB (2x4GB) kits on eBay, DDR3 G-Skill Ripjaws X RAM, and they sold for about $45 each.

    • Is ram something you can afford to buy second hand and not new? (genuinely don't know)

      • RAM has very, very low failure rates and a much longer lifespan than just about any other PC component, so if you're saving a fair bit, it's probably worth going for. Just stick with known brands.

      • no moving parts. so long as the computer is surge protected, it'll last forever.

It could be argued 2nd hand ram is better because if it was going to fail it would have done so already.

      • Definately. Ram is very stable stuff, can last a long long time.

An argument could be made that it can't be killed by overclocking it, and giving it too much voltage, but that's common sense.

I'm an decent eBay seller, I did 3 passes of MemTest86 and made sure I had no errors before I listed them.

  • I've got a bunch of sticks sitting in front of me.

    Patriot Viper Extreme 8GB kit (2x 4GB) PXD38G2133C11K

    I also have a couple of Kingston sticks KVR16N11S8K2/8 (2 x 4 GB)

I had them in my pc but have since upgraded, so they're just sitting on my desk now.

    Make me an offer.

  • Easy way to kill RAM is to touch the gold parts on the bottom. RAM is prone to static charges so store in Anti static containers or Anti static bags. Motherboard bags are good if you have some around. Check motherboard manufactures website first as compatibility COULD be an issue (QVL) Cheap is not better if it doesn't work!

  • About 75 dollars delivered on eBay, 8gb sticks at 1600mhz, new.

    From Asia, naturally.
