Received an update from pricehipster.com today that the ZTE Axon 7 (grey) has been reduced from $599 to $549 at JB Hi-Fi.
Seems a great deal for an AU stock phone with these specs.
Sale starts today and runs until 30/6/2017, while stocks last of course.
financial constraints pushed me on to the Xperia X Performance, but I wanted the 10 because of the awesome audio output and camera. It helps also that I was coming from an M7 that had gone the distance. Don't think the R9 Plus can compete with these two, but I would say if you did either you'd be in good hands. If it makes any difference I think HTC would be more consistent with updates.
The 10 has a much better camera. All else seems pretty close. If you go the HTC, make sure it's NOT Telstra branded (look for small Telstra logo on the back) because Telstra take forever to release software updates

For my wife, we first went with the ZTE. Unfortunately we discovered that the lower speaker output was severely muted, so returned it to JB. The next one they pulled out had worse issues, with it just constantly crackling/humming from the speakers. Unfortunately they had no more of the ZTEs in stock.
The wife then decided to go for the Oppo R9s, against my suggestions, but ultimately she will be living with it, and she liked the look of the R9s more, because looks are all that matters, we shall see how that turns out…

but, ZTE Axon 7s has dual camera which will be the major reason for me to get a new phone.
Just bought LG G6 … should have bought this one?
absolutely not. G6 is a much better phone and deal.
How about this or the LG V20. The sound chip for wired 50 mm driver headphones and screen quality for VR. This phone one of the first to support Daydream.
Torn between this phone, HTC 10 or Oppo R9 Plus all similar prices. Any recommendations?
