Destiny 1? Or just wait for Destiny 2?

Hey everyone!

As we all know, Destiny 2 is just under 3 months away and the beta just over 1 month away. I played Destiny 1 at launch for about two weeks solid and then my friends stopped so therefore I too hopped off. I only reached early 20's in terms of level.

I've got the $149 LE pre-ordered for PS4 due to all that exclusive content! (I have both consoles but I'd be a fool not play it on PS4!)

Is it worth hopping back into Destiny 1? Or just wait for the 2nd game?

Eager to read all your opinions!

Thanks!

Wait, nothing carries over (toons/gear/stats). If you want to know about the story then just read summary. More likely is that D2 will have a recap of what happened in D1. Source: about 200 hours in D1

    • thanks for the honest opinion, although you don't want to be here your view is well valued good sir! Are you excited for D2?

I have roughly 1500 hours into destiny so consider myself a die hard fan. If you haven't been back since launch, the game is completely different and offers a varied experience. There is still so much fun to be had in the game including weekly rotating raids. If you are time poor, it probably inst worth starting a new toon but if you have some time to kill, I would pick up the collection (think its on special on the PSN) and give it a go.

Even though the beta inst until July and game in September, D1 will certainly keep you occupied until then.

If you have time to kill play Destiny 1 - the raids are amazing but there is no story. Nothing will carry over. I'd say just wait for Destiny 2 unless you have time to kill.

  • Thanks guys, spare time at the moment is scarce so I'll probably follow the theme of waiting until D2 and then sink some sweet, sweet time into it. I'm sure there'll be a few YouTube videos that'll explain the events and lore of the first.

  • hey there
probably easier to ask if you liked destiny before seeing if you want to dedicate alot of time grinding characters?

if you only have destiny year 1 you will be limited (as the dlc's opened up alot more areas/story/etc). i have about 45 days played over 3 characters and have constantly gone back to destiny all the time (due to ease of fireteams with friends for story etc?)… if you have time to play go back to d1 to grind character to black garden mission (then you can carry over character to d2 (but you will loose all weapons/amour/vault etc from d1).. or get the collection and you get a lvl25 and lvl 40 boost if you want to grind 3 characters?

and/or try the beta on july 18th and see if its something you want to dedicate way to much time on (as thats what i have done.. but its been alot of fun in the process)

  • All valid points and I appreciate your time in assisting me. The better question now is..

Titan, Hunter or Warlock? Can someone give me a brief overview on each's play style?
