How Do You Carry Your Laptop Cables and Chargers?

How do you guys carry your laptop cables and chargers to work/uni?

I currently have a laptop bag and I throw the chargers and cables into the front pouch compartment. I'm scared that the charger socket pins will get damaged someday by accident someday. I tried looking for socket pin protectors but clearly they don't exist (if someone wants to start the market, go for it).

Is there some better way to carry both laptop and chargers in one piece?

  • 3D print one of your own with OzB's favorite 3D printer?

  • All my years of using and abusing laptops on the road, I have never damaged the pin or head of the adapter… the adapter head is solid but the cable frays but that's wear and tear and really… so what if it does?

My laptops are basically all Lenovo Dell HP and I have multiple chargers and they are usually in the $30 range for replacements.

    I'm ok with that price.

Like you guys I shove the adapter and the shortest 240v power cable I can find. In my car I bring a 4 outlet board if I need extension.

You can avoid this by not coilling the cable too tightly. I work as a laptop technician and i see students and teachers using hair scrunchies or rubber bands to tie up their AC adapter tightly so that they can fit it into their schoolbag or handbag.

Given repeated stress at the same points over and over again (kind of like when you bend a paper clip at the same point over and over) the cable will eventually fray and wear out.
