Disconnection Problems with Optus 100GB Mobile Broadband Plan

I Recently signed up with the Optus 100GB Mobile Broadband Plan for $70 when it was on this forum, since NBN isn't available in my area yet. At first it seemed like a good solution. However, over the last week I have been getting disconnected from the net and at first I thought it might of been caused by the recent cloudy weather. I usually get 2-3 bars and about 10/10 down and up. I just can't help but feel that it is caused by the plan I am on and the fact that it is given less priority when there is congestion. If I would of known this resulted in disconnection as opposed to slower speeds I wouldn't of signed up. I am using the e5573 modem as well. Is anyone else experiencing this? I have a feeling that if I contacted Optus I would just get the run around.

  • Mine works fine. Same plan. Sure if there is congestion it'll degrade but your modem could well be the culprit just as easily. Have you tried your phone as hotspot? Also what are you using it for? Latency dependant gaming? General browsing? Torrenting?

  • I haven't tried my phone yet since its only 3g capable. I think I will try it so that I can rule the e5573 out as the culprit. No I don't game or anything, I have been doing a lot of Foxtel-Now streaming on a trial plan and just general browsing. Thanks for the input, I will try my phone and see if it disconnects.
