[SA] 80c/L Unleaded Petrol Mobil Plympton, Friday 23rd 3PM-9PM

850

Seems there is some cheap petrol for the opening of this new store. Might as well bring a few jerry cans along and top them all up for that price.
Store location is 366 Anzac Hwy, Plympton SA 5038 corner of Cross Rd and Anzac Highway. Friday 23rd 3-9PM.

  • Is Mobil still around? Seems like every servo is either Coles, Woollies or On The Run.

      Aren't all 7-11 pumps Mobil?

I wonder, do you get asked to subscribe to Adelaide Now site when you visit it? Anytime I click on any of their links I am greeted with this: http://imgur.com/a/EWFYJ

Who the hell pays for online news in this day and age? ಠ_ಠ

        • +2

Sorry - it's behind a paywall but I think they let you visit one page a day or something before they ask you to subscribe.

        • +2

Copy and paste the link into Google. Google's link will take you past the paywall.

        • +1

For AdelaideNow (and other News Corp site) paywalls all you need to do to bypass it is paste the article link into google, click on the relevant search result and bingo! The URL you want is after the "&dest=" part of the subscribe screen URL.

        • @Peon: Ta! That worked. :)

        • @marquisite: Thanks.

For those in Adelaide who frequent AdelaideNow, there's a Chrome extension called De-tiser which bypasses the paywall so you don't have to go through means of looking/changing URLs.

        • @eathb: You're a legend, mate. I've just added that extension to Chrome and it worked like a charm. I wish there was one for FireFox as well, as that's my everyday browser. But at least now I don't have to miss some interesting news/info on AdelaideNow ever again. :D

        • @eathb: Or just run Chrome in Incognito mode

        • @bricabrac89: doesn't that only work for the age?

        • @buckster:

          Ah, possibly yeah.

      • Ah, cheers for the story. Tis' interesting indeed. I tend to agree, those logos do look very similar.

I ll definetly drive from Melbourne and bring dozens of empty coke bottles.

How much to hire a petrol tanker for a day? 🤔

  • Crikey

  • +7

SA Government should be lining up. Might help them power the generators when the grid dies again.

  • Hope police will be in attendance the line up will be crazy

    OZB meetup then?

    • Bikies?

  • Where can I buy cheap Jerry cans? Thanks

Which spice girl can fill their car with petrol?

      Gerri can

    • Bunnings and Supercheap Auto seem to stock around similar price. Combine with SCA coupon/discount and you could get a decent deal.

  • I drive past this one on my way home from work so it would be rude not to!

    • -1

      50l tank at 80c is $40. Same tank at $1.50 is $75.
But will the line up be worth the saving?

      • If there's a long queue I'll drive right past, my nearer servo is cheap anyway.

      • Well this is OzBargains I'll wager people have done more for $35 than wait a few minutes in a queue :)

        • Give us a wave to the cameras for the inevitable evening news story "cheap petrol causes traffic chaos". I'd be monumentally surprised if its "a few minutes in a queue". Either way, good deal for those who can take advantage.

        • @matt0:

"Several main roads around Adelaide have been thrown into traffic chaos by a new chain of discount petrol stations selling fuel for under 80 cents."

  • Yeah bring Jerry Cans and be that guy everyone wants to kill.

  • How long will the lineup be?

    • Eternal

    • Friday 23rd 3-9PM.

      in title and in description.

  • I value my time more than cheap fuel - and that time will be spent browsing OzB.

  • Their fuel is not very economic from what I've been told. YOu get what you paid for with Mobil.

    • +1

Costco is supplied by Mobil, and from using their fuel I've noticed no difference in fuel economy over the longer term. In Adelaide all 91 unleaded comes from the one terminal anyway unloaded by one ship.

      • -3

        Hmmm ok.

From the experience of people I know (MEL) Mobil, United, and 7-11, one tank doesn't get as many Ks as Shell. Even Caltex has gotten crap. Shell and BP get you the most mileage per tank.

  • +1

80c is a very nice price, but petrol is generally pretty cheap at the moment. On Henley Beach Road, not far from this site, another X Convenience store has 91 unleaded for 103.9 with no line up. Some Caltex/WOW stations are doing 105.9, so with eGift cards that's coming very close to a dollar. Would you line up for half an hour, maybe more to save 20c/L?

  • Remind me to get my petrol here next time im in Plympton

  • +3

The time you'd spend waiting and the petrol you'd burn while waiting is not worth it. Besides, I am not driving all the way from Sydney to take advantage of this one. No deal!

    • Go past midnight.

      • Friday 23rd 3-9PM.

        • Ah, good point. My bad.

    • Push your car.

  • After mountaintop rebate?
