Cashrewards $7 cashback after cancelled eBay sale. What would you do?

Hardly ever use cash rewards unless I'm buying something big. Logged in today and realised there was a $7 for a purchase mid last year I had no recollection of. Then I remembered last year ebay had a special deal with all electrical and I wanted to see if it worked for me, not being a new member. All the other times I tried it made me confirm purchase but this time the purchase went through for a $600 item.
I immediately contacted the seller and offered an apology and explanation of what happened. He was understanding and cancelled the sale and I agreed to cancel it and I'm sure he would have gotten his fees back too.

Then suddenly $7 cash back, when I wasn't even trying to use cash rewards. I have no idea how it worked as Ive had problems intentionally trying to get cash back and its failed some times.

Of-course I could do nothing and keep the money but I feel a bit bad since it was my fault with the seller and its my understanding he had to pay for this deal with cash rewards. Or would it have been ebay?

Should I contact cash rewards so they can reverse it or just ignore it as it will cause confusion and was a long time ago?

    It's only $7 don't worry

eBay pay the commission to Cashrewards, so the seller weren't out of pocket/nothing to do with them.

It will only take a minute to let Cashrewards know, it's possible eBay paid Cashrewards for the sale despite the fact it was later cancelled or Cashrewards won't bother reversing it (that happened in my case for a refunded order that never arrived, albeit a lesser cashback amount). In any case you've done the right thing on your part by telling them.

    Should I contact cash rewards

I think you already have ;)

  • Nothing

  • If its ebay im less fussed as they have taken enough money from me in my time on there but also a huge company that screws over many. Probably more trouble for the site to bother with for the amount of money and when it was.

  • Can't believe this honest guy/gal actually asked this question, I believe the payment will be reversed as they are on this forum. Good on you though, I'm not sure I would have done the same (you're supposed to be an OzBARGAIN member, remember?)
