Hey Folks,

I am thinking of buying a laptop and I have finalized on

Dell XPS 13
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-XPS-13-7th-Gen-Intel-Core-i5…
Cost $1519

and

ASUS Zenbook UX360UA
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ASUS-ZenBook-Flip-UX360UAK-C4232T…
Cost $1499

and

HP Spectre 13

Can anybody suggest which is a better one to buy and if there is any other good deal in this price range and config?

Cheers!

Dell XPS 13 is solid one with good onsite support. I heard Asus have bad service support.

    +1 for Dell XPS

I'm a big fan of the XPS and Spectre, hard to go wrong with either

+1 for Dell XPS, then Asus.

Friends don't let friends buy HP.

Here's the list of laptops I had shortlisted. Haven't updated in a few months but should still be quite current.

My preference was highly skewed towards 13" lightweight and fast, so some sacrifices were made.

    • That is a good list. This is mostly similar to what I was looking for. Still trying my luck for a day or 2 at outlet stuff from Dell. Else will buy Dell.

twig - Your profile pic is awesome - this is from Drunken Master If i am not wrong :)

      • Good memory! Yep it's the bad guy from drunken master lol

Beware of the core-m chips. They have a "Y" in the cpu model number. Those are imposters, not as good as the actual Intel i3/i5/i7 chips

        • Yes, already checked that out. Thanks!

I have 2 Zenbook 13 for the lightness and longer battery life.
core-m chip is very noticablly lighter and thinner because i5 has a fan and maybe a graphic card.
          So far both are ok

    +1 for Dell.

The Asus and HP are both convertibles, the Dell isn't, so if that's not important then the Dell. Its a 13 inch screen in an 11 inch body. Engineering marvel.
Dell also makes a 13" XPS convertible if you're interested.

  • Dell XPS

  • Just bought an XPS, after much research / consideration. The build quality and premium feel of the dell ended up the deciding factor (although spec wise I could have bought something better for similar price)

    • We had to return our XPS 13 after stuttering issues when streaming video via the usb-c to hdmi. The tech guys had no solution and after 6 months they gave up and issued us a refund. I bought a HP Spectre X360 last night… i7-7500, 8gb, 512gb and only $1311.
