Vodafone Volte on Optus Branded Galaxy S8

I just brought a Galaxy S8 from mobilecity and turned out it is Optus branded. I am not able to see VoLTE icon on the status bar, is that because it is running off the Optus firmware?

Thanks.

  • VoLTE takes a while to provision on the network. How long ago did you turn it on? Do Voda even support VoLTE yet?

    • My old phone doesn't support VoLTE, so I don't know. However, my families got VoLTE a while ago.

    • Vodafone does support VoLTE
It is possible VOLTE is not enabled on your account, it usually activates when you add a compatible phone to your plan (upgrade etc) maybe give them a call and check whether its enabled

  • OK. On an S8 the Circuit Switched codec is the same used by VoLTE so you won't notice any audio quality benefits anyway…

  • Why is it even branded optus? It should be unbranded according to their website.

    • When I turn on the phone, I saw "Yes"… And there was an Optus app which I have uninstalled.

      • I would take it back and get a new unbranded one. Don't like the crap Service providers put on there to lock the phone or other unnecessary bloatware.

I'm not too sure if Optus' firmware is affecting your ability to receive Vodafone's VoLTE but it could be since its different networks. Is there another phone like from your family that you can put your SIM in that supports VoLTE to confirm it isn't your SIM but the phone?

        • Mobile city branded phones are always cheaper. OP didn't read the product description.

  • I flashed my samsung phone with Vodafone firmware to use VOLTE. Later on flashed Telstra firmware when i switched my provider to Boost. VOLTE is working on Boost sim now.
