How Is Future Gear on eBay?

Amidst all of the ebay tech codes, a store that seems to stand out in prices seems to be Future Gear.

However it's an NZ based seller who I have never heard of. For those who have bought from Future Gear (probably due to ebay codes) are satisfied are you with the product handling and customer service?

I'm planning to buy an ASrock motherboard + Kingston RAM which can save me about $40 in total which is nice. Would there be any issues with warranty?

  • I just bought something from them for the first time too…lets see how it goes…..as for warranty stuff, I would guess you would need to post it back…though not sure if the return will be free or you have to pay out of your own pocket to return the faulty item for a replacement or refund or whatever…

    • OK, so it came - and works mostly, but seller doesn't respond to any of my messages I send them…..and upon reading some of the negative and neutral feedback he's gotten, seems to confirm all this from other buyers….

      So I guess I won't be getting any assistance from him/her…. ☹️

  • i bought a router from them earlier in the week. arrived on friday. very happy with the experience!

  • +1

Am thinking of buying something from them, feedback seems to indicate they are alright except for a lack of communication in responding to emails.

  • Are you asking about past experience?

  • i bought a vesa stand from then. got it within 5 days.
this was earlier this year. around late march

  • bought a moto g5 plus from them and it arrived 2 or 3 days later. Epic price, although i have a feeling they would be terrible for warranty claiming. Owner company is PB Tech

    • ho do you know that owner company is pb tech ?

  • Bought a surface pro 2017. 1 week on and zero contact and item hasnt sent. Have sent multiple messages. Seems other have had this problem in their feedback

  • Bought from them in May, never received the item contacted them multiple times no reply…. At last I have opened a PayPal case against them

  • I bought a graphics card from them over a week ago and they have not marked it as shipped, not sent a tracking number or replied to any of my messages. The GPU was supposed to be in stock and sent with express shipping.

Now the graphics card I bought is from Gigabyte who do not have an international warranty. Future Gear's dismal conduct over the last week has made me worried how if I need to RMA the card, that I'll be in for a very bad experience as they are based in New Zealand. If they won't answer multiple messages asking about the status of an order, I'd be willing to bet they won't be answering people's RMA requests.

They sold 37 of the 1080's and a few less of the 1080 ti's over the space of a few hours, so they are sitting on not too far off $100k of people's funds and no one has left positive feedback for the 1080 or 1080ti from the sale.

I'm going to be starting a PayPal charge back if I haven't heard from them in a couple of days.

I don't think they ever had the cards in stock and just wanted to take advantage of the sale to boost exposure. Even if the card was to arrive in the next hour, it's already been a negative buying experience for me.

    • It was as I thought. I finally got a reply from them today informing me that they do not have stock and don't expect stock until at least the 31st (2 weeks after purchasing).

I was one of the first people out of 37 who bought a 1080 from them that day. They ran out of stock very quickly but a few hours later they increased the price and added more stock when they never even had any cards.

Ebay needs to step in and cull these sellers from their promotions.

    • Hi mate,

My friend and I also purchased the Gigabyte Windforce 1080's. Both of us in exact same situation as you - not marked as shipped, no tracking number and not replying to messages.

Likewise, even if the card miraculously arrived today, it's already been a very negative experience from me. I will also be lodging a charge back if I haven't heard from them soon.

Please keep your progress updated here.

      Thanks!

      • I did hear back from them today, look at my reply above.

I'm really pissed off. I bought a new PC case and PSU for this card over the weekend.

I started a forum topic for it.

      • I'm in the same situation… I dont mind long as I get it, but I too am a bit annoyed. They replied ASAP when I needed to correct the shipping address. I'm kind of relieved I'm not the only one.

Hey I got a 1080 from them last week, arrived, working perfectly.
No probs what so ever. I did quiz them about warranty also, took about 24hrs to get back to me.
I was a little hesitant when I read feedback, but it was an awesome deal.

Just wanted to chime in….with a positive experience. Sorry to those not having the same…

      • Do you mind sharing their response regarding AU warranty?
        Cheers
