  • Damn that's cheap, gonna head down tomorrow to Aldi chadstone and see if it's the same price.

    • can u post back if same price, hope it counts for vic stores

  • +1

Whoa that's cheap! Not the best pocket video camera but definitely a bargain!

  • +3

holy crappu. this totally nukes my flip hd post.

  • This is available at most Aldi's but most reduce it to $79 or similar. This is a great discount.

  • My local (Shepparton, Vic) Aldi had a note on the display cabinet that some stuff up to 50% off, for a limited time. Had a very quick look and there didn't seem to be anything massively interesting, but I guess they are clearing their stock, especially electronics. Staying on topic, that camera would be perfect for some of the more risky filming occasions, like putting it on a kite or an RC car or airplane!

    • +6

Yes, I also like "risky filming occasions" :)

      • How good do you think it records in "dim light" ? :-P

  • Ooooh! I'm gonna check my 3 locals for that one.

A side note: I've looked at the specs and can't find anything about if it takes stills. Does anyone know if it does?

    • Never mind, i found it. 1.6mp, 3mp interpolated :(

  • yeh i was in the Albury one a few weeks ago and it was reduced to $79

  • $54.88 at all Target stores around Australia if they have any in stock.

  • a good deal, but is this camera any good?

  • 60fps? That sounds crazy to me. Most video is 25 or 30 frames per second. I wonder if it can be used as a webcam.
Is the lens glass or plastic i wonder.

    • +2

For normal video 60fps is a bit much and you would probably want to use the 30fps option normally. But being able to shoot at 60fps gives a great way to do slow motion films. Just play the 60fps back at 30fps and you get a 50% slow motion effect with no reduction in quality.

  • Great price - but for a few $ more, the Zi8 is a much better camera. I have one and can't be happier with the results for the price I paid.

    • +4

More like many dollars more. It's like $200?

  • Plus 1 for Caloundra

  • +1

I have this camera. Its crap. Wont take photos in dark. Wont capture any moving photos. Video is crap as. Never liked the quality. The buttons are rubber and so tiny. The RRP i was given when i got this was $295 and no wonder its down to this price.

  • well done simon486 - I just went to Caloundra and bought 3 of them - will make good presents - 3 pink ones left at Aldi now - thanks for the post

  • In Gosford Aldi (just opened this month), it has been always marked with price $59.

  • still $99 at point cook aldi.where is the national pricing?

    • These are reduced below the original "national price". Clearance items are usually at the discretion of store managers in any retail chain.

  • by the way oo.com.au is selling for $79.

    • those are refurbs…..

  • Just went to Noosa and its $79. would have bought it for $59 as I was looking for a Chrissie present for my niece

  • I have this camera and, within it's limitations, it's very good.
The zoom is not useful, so if you want to get closer to the action….you have to move.
The stills it takes are not particularly great, slightly better than most phonecams.
However, for a cheap way of capturing an event in reasonable quality, you can't go wrong at this price. The software it comes with allows you to upload to FB, youtube, etc direct.
    great for a birthday/xmas pressie

  • Aldi at Miranda, Sydney also has them for $79. Fail :(

  • +1

    Oxley, Brisbane also at $79.

    • Thanks for the heads up, that is closest one to me.

  • Non available at Parramatta.

  • Checked Carindale, Brisbane - $79 unfortunately. :( Worth buying for $49 but not for $79.

    • tis definitely worth it at $79
      $79 is a good deal
      $49 is a fantastic deal

I was pretty happy paying $99 two weeks ago in big w….(until this post…..)

  • I purchased one at the North Lakes (North Brisbane) store, they had it for $79 asked them to match the price, which they did.

  • Just bought mine from Target, it was $59.88, seeing as there doesn't seem to be an Aldi here in WA… at least not one I've seen.

    • +1

I know this is an old post now, but I should continue my experience for anyone still following this post. I also noted my local Target at Hurstville NSW has 2 units left at same $59.88 last week, hesitated to buy it but thought what the heck only $10 more than Aldi's rare $49. To my surprise, the price scanned up at $49.39 today. So very happy with the price now. Just waiting for my Transcend 16GB SDHC memory card to be delivered to me now :)
