Thinking of Getting Solar Panels in Perth, WA - Any Good Retailers/Brands I Should Go with?

Hi,

Looking to purchase Solar panels for my house. Have 4 people living in the house and looking at getting a 4-5kW system.

Wondering if anyone has any info on good businesses to go with and what type of panels to install.

I am located in Perth WA.

Thanks in advance for any information

My parents and I have used Solargain. We both have the same system (SMA inverter and Sunpower panels), but you should talk to them for recommendations on a suitable system for your household.

The sales rep was Will Parker - would recommend.

    • Thanks mate, will check them out

There was this deal posted here last week: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/314763
    And this one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/314812

I have no idea about these things but the first deal looks better - however I tried to contact them using the phone number of their website and it didn't work.
I sent them an email and haven't heard back from them.
Strange way to do business IMHO

    • Thanks mate, I think I want to get the Chinese GCL panels so I will look into the links

      • Just heard back from them this morning. Will see how it goes.

        • I have been looking at both, it seems the first deal perth solar force are newish to the scene and esolar have been around since 2003.

Let me know how it all goes and which system you are leaning towards.

Be careful with bargains for solar, better to pay more and go with someone reputable and well reviewed. From memory one of the solar bargains posted on ozbargain a little while back turned out to be a massive scam, i think it was LG Energy (not affiliated with LG in any way). So be careful and do your research :)

    • i agree on this topic.

dont go cheap because you will get what you pay for and unfortunately the cheap stuff just dosent cut it.

im looking at getting solar but avoiding the made in china stamp, i have been told LG are a top panel as well and with the introduction of the 275w panel it will change system sizes a fair bit.

would really like to see solar tiles but that aint happening anytime soon.

      • I believe most panels are made in China these days, I am not worried about buying chinese made products. As long as the brand is well known.

GCL for example is chinese made, is widely used all over the world and has a good reputation.

I suggest you take a bit of time to look at the Solar Quotes website https://www.solarquotes.com.au
Not only will they arrange three quotes from reputable firms in your area, but they have a wealth of info on solar, on their blog - hundreds of articles. Spend some time looking at what's on the site so you know what you're talking about when you talk to the potential suppliers.

    • Thanks for the resource, will take a look

…..and check the time of your max usage (if not done already). If you can't shift it to strong sun shining times then it's either a no go or add in batteries. The latter is a whole new ball game in regards to cost efficiencies etc.

Give Alan from Solar2020 a call or email for a quote. They sell LG panels with Fronius inverters, reasonably priced and good service! I just had my setup installed in Perth late April.

  • Hi AFA,

Dif you end up having solar installed?

Can you let us know what company you used and how it's going?

    Thanks

    • have not made the jump just yet

  • How'd ya go? Did mine last year, 5 kw I think. Around 20 panels and fronius primo inverter for around 5000

    • waiting for batteries to be cheaper as i am at mostly at home in the evening so would not be getting maximum benefit
