Working for Deliveroo/UberEATS/Foodora on a Bicycle

Hi everyone,

I have some spare time at the moment and was wondering if anyone in the OzB community had done work for the gig economy delivery companies and could give insight into how it works, pay and conditions.

I'm hoping to use my bicycle in the Melb CBD area as I don't have a car yet.

Also looking for any referral offers/codes that are available.

Thanks!

I did UberEats on a bike in Brisbane. Wouldn't recommend it, too many other riders means its hard to get jobs, it got to the stage for me where I was riding around for 4 hours (brisbane is nice and hilly as well) at night to get $30/40 at most. Take tax out of that and its honestly not worth your time. On the bright side, its nice being able to ride whenever you want, and riding around at night time is quite nice.

EDIT: If you had a scooter or motorbike I think it might be alright as you can deliver to further away locations, so I assume that potentially opens you up to a lot more jobs.

    • too many other riders

Now there's a business idea … start a 'protection', heck you could even shake down the restaurants, once you become big enough.

Yeah i had a roommate who did it. He thought it would be fantastic and he'd make a fortune, but he barely got any jobs and only made a pittance every day. Complete waste of time

You'd be better off becoming a Dominoes driver or some other takeaway joint I reckon

I work for Deliveroo and Uber eats.
Deliveroo are not hiring at the moment unless you want to ride in Geelong. Foodora don't seem to have many riders at all.

Uber eats is always hiring more riders. They also have all of their car drivers as well so you may not get much work. The CBD would be the best place to work for uber because it's difficult for car drivers. It's not really a full time thing but if you just work at peak times you can make alright money. For uber you get paid between 5$ and $10 per delivery depending on distance and if there is a peak time bonus.

If you have any specific questions PM me.

  • The Uber eats navigation for cycling is a sham. It will tell you to take freeway and highways and all the main motor ways. It's designed for cars and Uber has not bothered to tweak it for cycles.

  • Currently I'm working for foodora, they pay $9 each delivery for bike riders.

  • Guys, any updates? Thinking about the same thing
