Using MyRepublic Router with AusBBS FTTN

Greetings smart people of OZB,

Just wanted to get some help regarding my fttn nbn.

After nearly 3 months my property has finally been connected to nbn according to my ISP and the nbn installer but I can't seem to be able to connect my router to the net.

So I am using the technicolor router that I got from myrepublic and have selected the following settings.

VDSL2+ -> PPoE -> Entered username & password provided by ISP

I also got this email from AusBBS:

"AusBBS is pleased to advise that your NBN service is now active.

To reconnect/connect to the internet using your new AusBBS account you will need to reboot your router (turn it off and on) AFTER you enter the details below.

Please connect your router to on the NBN termination device.

Your router settings will be:

Username:
Password:

If required

• Service AusBBS
• Encapsulation: PPPoE
• Multiplexing: LLC
• VPI: 8
• VCI: 35
• Authentication: PAP
• TCP/IP settings: Obtain IP automatically
• VLANID: 100"

Do you guys know if I am doing something wrong and what I can do to connect to the net?

  • Check Dynamic IP (IPOE) settings. Needs to be switched on

this seems pretty similar to your issue. Is this your thread?

    • IPoE is a different service type to PPPoE, if AusBBS use PPPoE, IPoE wont work.

FttN doesn't have a "NBN Termination Device"… the Termination device is your modem.
OP I presume you have plugged the DSL port of the modem (not router) into the phone line?

If not, then that's your problem.
You shouldn't need to turn the modem off and then on again, those instructions were probably written for FttP connections and AusBBS are too lazy to have updated them.

      • Hi yeah I am using the DSL port and yes that's my thread on whirlpool. Figured might as well ask here as well.

  • I have the Telstra model of the TG799vac and it doesn't have the capability of VLAN Tagging.
This may well just be a Telstra firmware issue, cause we all know it's gimped to hell, but if the MR Firmware similarly doesn't allow VLAN tagging, that's a vital feature to have by the looks.
