I'm looking to buy my daughter an Apple Watch for her birthday this weekend. I was considering the S1 at BigW for $350 but I've bought the wife and the other daughter S2 versions only recently and didn't really want to by her the earlier model (she has issues with being the non-favourite!!)….or should I?

Yeah, I agree. May as well just get one from the Apple store as delivery times elsewhere are an issue - her birthday is early next week.

I propose you buy her a Pebble. They are going to be functional for a few more months yet.
Then with the $ you save you can get your favourite one some additional apple watch straps.
The Series 1 has the same processor as the Series 2. It shouldn't be slower. Series 1 is not the same as the original watch (aka 'Series 0').
The key differences between Series 1 and Series 2 are that 2 is waterproof, has GPS and has a brighter screen.

Thanks guys. I'll pop to the Apple store tomorrow and get her a Series 2, even though she's not a patch on her younger sister!

At some point it will become obvious they are different when the S2 will update to the latest software release but the S1 will not. Also the S1 already seems a little laggy to me. Get the S2.
