Confusion about Parking Signs

There is a street sign which shows curb side parking from 9am to 5pm with 1 hour free parking. If I were to park there at 4pm, does that mean my parking ends at 5pm or until 9am the next morning? I read the handbook and nothing really resolves this confusion of mine. Cheers! :)

10am the next morning as a new hour would start at 9am.

Yep. Though the council/rangers could say that the 1 hour is based on a "per session" basis, and fine you on that technicality.
Even still, parking until 9am isn't that bad if its the CBD.

  • as already said, 10am next day

  • be careful not to be tricked if there is another sign on top of or below that sign

By the time you have stood under the sign and fully comprehended it, it is more than the allowed 5 mins and the tow driver has already hooked your car to the truck ready to move off.

"1P 9am - 5pm" with no other signs or notations means you can park from 5:00pm until 10:00am the next morning.

from 4pm to 10am the next day

  • Also means the ranger probably doesn't care after ~330pm…

    • the rangers 'care the most' when its close to time. i know from experience that they are indeed bottom feeders.
