Technically speaking its not a PS4 exclusive but Playstation exclusive. I played it on PS3. Awesome game.

I have been playing Horizon Zero Dawn for a week or two now and I'm enjoying it a lot. However it is very similar to the Farcry games so only consider it if you like them. Kind of a cross between Farcry & Tomb Raider.

I tried inFAMOUS: Second Son, didn't really gel with me, don't know why to be honest, just didn't.

  • No particular order but
    Uncharted 4
    The Last of Us: Remastered

I wanna get horizon zero dawn

I loved infamous second son. Guess you had to have played the first two to really appreciate how much it's grown. Plus, as it pretty much released with the console, it really showed what the ps4 could do. Wish it was longer though.

Bloodborne isn't bad if you want a game you can't put down. And although not an exclusive, the most time spent on my ps4 was on destiny. Here's hoping destiny 2 will be as good.

Depends, i think its better for multisystem games to be honest, perhaps consider a multisystem game like Tekken 7 or Injustice 2? Or try some of these somewhat strong exclusives:

Talos Principle, Infamous and the DLC First Light game, Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza 0 are the closest to worthwhile ones, Probably More TP, GR2, Y. to be honest. GR2 might be the best one with TP. Infamous 2 on the old system might have been better. Some good ones but id say The God of War (3) on the previous system (PS3) were a bit more enjoyable then some, PS1-PS2 was were it was at for exclusives (not refering to jrpgs, plenty of better stuff).

Ignoring the console war stuff honestly, outside of that, its really more for multisystem games and a few indies, not so much exclusives. PS had some great exclusives back during the Ps1-PS2, like Tekken, Syphon Filter. Things are different now….

But really its more for a few multisystem games and some indies.

You buy Nintendo, Xbox for many great exclusives in bulk from a gameplay standpoint, (Xbox also has alot of multisystem, while Nintendo gets indies generally too and some other multisystem here and there) many PS exclusive games go into clone game territory currently or visual cgi movie imitation as the appeal, rather then the games themselves. For the Netflix, Blockbuster film crowd. Also a portion of poorly made, Bad Dark Souls type clone games.

    Hope that helps.

Your critique is accurate. PS4 exclusives are definitely weaker than previous generations of Sony market dominance. I also like the part where you're talking about 'clone game territory' and 'visual cgi movie' and don't actually say "Horizon Zero Dawn and Nioh" and "Order 1886 and Until Dawn" respectively, but don't worry; I know what you meant ;D

I think buying consoles should be about market coverage, rather than masubatory franchise loyalty. If you buy a PS4 and a Nintendo and a PC, you're only gonna miss out on Halo and Forza, especially considering XBOX is now doing away with exclusivity and releasing almost all their games on Windows 10; thus making the entire console redundant for PC users. If you buy a Xbox, Nintendo, and PC though, you're going to miss out on a lot of games that at least have a unique setting worth a look. I give it shit all the time, but Horizon Zero Dawn definitely has a worthwhile unique setting even if it has the single worst human enemies in the history of videogames.

For people unwilling to get a PC though, the PS4 is an important source of indie games, with many not seeing support in the xbox space. I am glad PS4 is getting Undertale, even if that already runs on potato hamster wheel PC's. It is important to acknowledge 1st party development like Naughty Dog (I know it's not really 1st party but I can't imagine a world with Xbone ND games) will continue to put out historically fantastic titles that require you to own the platform only if you care about the franchise.

Ultimately, the exclusives boil down to different genres. PS4 exclusives are about adventure and discovery; xbox exclusives about RAYSAN and SHOOTAN. Get which one you want the most, but the PS4 definitely has a larger number of exclusives that aren't just sequels (Even if Bloodborne is technically a spiritual successor).

Meanwhile, 343 Studios still doesn't know what to do with the Halo franchise :D

Nioh and Horizon are great games though imo, Horizon has a excellent combat system and a surreal visual experience and Nioh has deeper mechanics than souls games trading it for the atmosphere/story/lore side of things. Certainly good games though I enjoyed thoroughly

As someone who has extensively played all of the games that Horizon is borrowing from, I would like to say it's more than just the sum of its parts. Unfortunately, in my opinion, Horizon Zero Dawn is a perfect example of a game that is only the sum of its parts. Though the world, lore and story are fantastic, it's still a very good attempt for a first entry to a franchise. But for me it never excelled past 'average open world game'.

However, I think the combat can be more than it is. Imagine if they had taken the approach of War Thunder, or Dwarf Fortress; by giving the monsters internal structural stability and weakening from repeated hits to dismantle the robots to kill them rather than relying on hitpoints. Since they're all robots they could have took the 'breaking' system further. If they had shrugged off hitpoints entirely; a 20 year old outdated remnant of videogames. The fact that a free game by Russians, and a free game by one guy tells me that it's totally possible for an AAA studio backed by Sony to actually do something innovative. HZD would have been an immovable monarch of progressive thinking. Instead they decided to stick to only what works. HZD is a very SAFE game, and outside of robot dinosaurs, sticks to tame ideas to present a very good story.

And, this isn't even my opinion; the human combat is atrocious. It's not fun, it's way too easy, it's wholly in contrast with the action packed fights the rest of the game has. Load 3 arrows. Slow mo. Shoot at head. One hit. You win, even though we just made a 40 second cutscene to establish that this guy is a BIG DEAL. Human combat is less of a game and more of a checklist.

I haven't played Nioh, but I heard you can just high-stance the chain all game and you win, so.

I just don't know if there are enough exclusives to justify buying a console over a gaming PC, you'd have to be a very die-hard fan of a franchise.
