Cheapest way to ship bicycle from Melbourne to Canberra?

Put down a deposit on the Avanti Corsa Sl 1 when it was on special, now I am having trouble getting it over from Mel to Canberra. What is the cheapest method? Take greyhound coach and pick it up myself or get a shipping company if available? If so, which shipping company should I use? Anyone else who bought the Avanti having the same problem?

Can you drive to Melbourne, pick it up and drive back? That would be the cheapest and easiest… As you suggested the greyhound coach I'm guessing you don't have a license or a car…

Otherwise book a cheap flight to Melbourne, and book a Qantas flight back as you can take your bike as a checked bag if it is in a box.

    rays bike exchange in Preston?

    use sendle $26

rays would be able to pack it for you. sendle goes to rays and picks it up.

    • transdirect?

    • Sendle at $26 seems cheap but wouldn't a standard bike box be more than the 100L limit?

Find someone on gumtree/airtasker to ride it over.

    • this is my first road bike, I haven't ridden in like 10 years. You want my first ride to be from mel to canberra? I'll be lucky if I don't die.

    Which direction is downhill?

unfortunately it has to go from Melbourne to Canberra and if you look at any map you will see that Canberra is always up. would have been easier the other way around - all down.

Contact Tony Abbott, he seems to have a lot of spare time lately.

You have now found the problem with bikes. Shipping them is not easy.

Ask the seller to put it in a standard bike box, assuming it is a bike shop then they might not have to do anything if it isn't already assembled.

Otherwise a weekend in Melbourne seems like a nice road trip, heck make it a week and enjoy your stay too.
