If it was deactivated there is a very very slim chance you'll ever be able to get that number again
When I worked for a telco they went into a quarantine after disconnection for months (3 or 12 or something)
And I never heard of someone getting theirs back

    • Quarantine is 24 months minimum.

      • Sounds familiar

    • quarantine is 6 months minimum, and number can be removed from quarantine to re-allocate to the previous customer. the quarantine isn't to stop someone getting their number back, it is to prevent it being allocated to another customer straight away.

      • We were told otherwise
There was a story shared at the yearly conference in which someone had their late fathers voicemail message on their number
It was disconnected, one day later they tried to get it back and it was gone

Months of work and the higher ups involved ended up getting it back
        Extra mile rardyrar.
        Point being its nigh impossible

If you have experienced otherwise then I'd be inclined to believe you

  • In saying that. If you go to telco they will probably be able to look you up even if it's deactivated
If you ask nicely and theyre not busy

    • Can I ask any provider to look up or it has to be the previous provider of the number?

Tried to chat with Telstra support ytd but they can't do anything as they don't know the previous provider.

  • I doubt phone support would do anything
    When working for a telco
If I searched a number, all previous owners came up
To share the info you would have needed to know the pin though

So in theory you could go to each telco and ask them to look you up
As above, not much of a point though
