Mobile Tyre Industry?

Looking through threads here and I see a few questions about tyres.

Thought I'd make a thread as an FYI and alternative to Tyresales which I've had bad experiences with.

There are actually tyre shops that come to you, on the side of the road/at home that charge the same price as a normal tyre store. Saw it on shark tank a few years ago for Australia and have also seen vans in the UK.

One in Melbourne is: Mobile Tyre Shop - Same Day service - 7 days a week- Puncture repairs - https://www.mobiletyreshop.com.au/
One in Sydney: RoadRunner Tyres - Same Day Service - 7 days a week - Puncture repairs - http://www.roadrunnermobiletyres.com.au/
Google search also showed me Speedy tyres
RACV also does mobile tyres - 4 day wait - no roadside puncture repairs - 5 days a week

I've used them for all my family cars and they are the exact same price as a normal tyre store.

For me it has been life changing (as much as changing tyres can be) saves me so much time. Are we all just late adopters or have we all just never heard of it?

  • The RACV has a mobile tyre fitting service.

    • By the looks of it they don't do punctures though, only new tyres and it has a 4 day wait :/ The people I used had same day service

      • Your post makes no mention of punctures, wait times. It would be fair to mention RACV, as part of the Mobile Tyre Industry.

        • There we go, added :) I didn't see them when I first searched, must be new!

        • @YeahNickk: Try googling "mobile tyre fitting" there is more than one in Melbourne!

  • I went with KMART Tyre auto & service recently as Tyresales were more pricey and wouldn't price beat/match.

    • KMART Tyre auto & service are pricey in most departments.

  • Buying with a tyre shop:
-usually get free or discounted alignment at time of purchase
    -free rotations

From my research nobody was as cheap as Tempe Tyres in Sydney although some guys will price match.

    • I've heard about Tempe in Sydney, definitely the cheapest up there.

  • Interesting.
My understanding was such services in years gone by were offered by bricks and mortar stores and charged a considerable premium for the privilege.

    • By my experiences these don't cost any extra to use (maybe Roadrunner as said on their website). The explanation the tyre guy told me was because they don't have to pay huge rental costs like a traditional store they can do the tyres for the same markup price

  • Can they do alignments? I prefer to get a full alignment done if I'm getting new tyres.

    • My experience was with Mobile Tyre Shop and they offered to do it, I didn't take them up on it though.
