Did I Pay Too Much to Repair a Flat Tyre?

Got a puncture in my repairable run flat tyre so took it into a local tyre shop which is part of a large chain. Didn't bother asking how much it would cost to repair as the last time I got a tyre repaired by that chain less than 12 months earlier I paid $40 for the repair (different store, same chain). I was in shock when I was asked to pay $70, I questioned it but didn't have any option other than to pay it and never go back. Just wondering if $70 is the new price to repair a tyre in Sydney or did I get ripped off?

never paid more than $25 for a repair

also, didn't think RFT could be repaired

also also, no real point raising the question here, even if 21000 people agree with you that you paid too much, what then……

next time, ask how much before they do the work

RTF do cost more for repair, IF they can be repaired……..

  • I don't understand your question.

"Just wondering if $70 is the new price to repair a tyre in Sydney"
There isn't a set price for repairing tires in Sydney, or anywhere else for that matter.

The tire shop chooses to set their own price as they damn well please.
You should ask the price of something first next time.

Please hand in your Ozbargain membership.

  • some guys at work found a tyre repair kit, which came in handy for me twice. forget paying $25 i just roll around with a tyre in front of work and do it myself

  • Yea i would say any where from $15-30 dollars is the going rate. Its usually a quick job although easy its a hassle if they need to take the wheel of.
