Critically it is about the audience, not the platform. Know who you're trying to target and determine what platform it is that they're using. If you're serious about social media, you should actually be using multiple channels. Using a management tool like Spredfast you can post to multiple channels at once. You also need to think about what sort of content you'll be sharing and where you want to drive traffic. Different channels are focused on different sorts of content. I reckon you should be focusing on your social media strategies and desired outcomes, your research and focus would then enable you to choose the right platform for you. Don't start with the platform - start with your customers.

    • Thank you Halo375

According to "in-house" survey by business marketing manager, social media (facebook) is the most effective and desirable targeting the customers (vs. TV ads/newspaper/pamphlets etc). The research does not differentiate between different platforms of social media.

Am I able to edit and post it across multiple channels using spredfast simultaneously?

Yes, however it is probably overkill for what you need. I use it as part of a global multinational, I'm sure there are probably other tools available. It is software that enables you to schedule posts and content to be distributed when you want it. It also allows you to respond to all enquiries from one platform (rather than having to log in to each channel to respond). Based on what you're after below, for general awareness you should go for facebook because that's where the volume is. Their tools for targeting are pretty great and the cost should be low enough for you to trial. There's lots of information available to explain how to go ahead. If you have some good video, then build a youtube channel as well, Google+ is good for promoting your website and building your SEO on google platforms but otherwise leave it alone.

Remember - social media is a very crowded space, it isn't easy getting attention. Just build your skills to start with, drive traffic to pages you monitor, see what works and repeat. Try not to get lost in the numbers, be clear about what you want to achieve and Facebook will help you to get there (for a price of course).

        • Thanks Halo375

It seems that you have a great experience using social media campaign :)

I don't think many of healthcare systems are using social media yet though.. correct me if I am wrong.

I am actually outsource it to fiverr. IT is not my domain.

      • social media (facebook) is the most effective and desirable targeting the customers (vs. TV ads/newspaper/pamphlets etc)

they needed a study for that, short of the eldery thats a no brainer, if the company who did that don't have a study comparing the different types of social media then you need to stop looking to them for advice

        • I do fully understand your view, however, marketing using social media within healthcare is quite new in comparison to non-healthcare use. The survey was conducted by one of the private hospital (in house survey). I believe that we need to welcome social media within health system. Hence this post was generated

  • It depends on what you are marketing and who is your targeted audience.
I do not recommend paying Facebook or similar social media for advertising unless its the only possibility.
Usually holding comp to like and share a post for entry to a draw for a prize could help you reach more audience.

    • Hi apple2016

I am trying to create brand awareness for particular condition
      such as https://www.facebook.com/qendo/ or https://www.facebook.com/EndometriosisAustralia/

      It is not about e-commerce

      • brand awareness for particular condition

Have a look at AIDS for a great example of branding.

The AIDS has done a great job at raising awareness amongst all demographics but especially the much coveted 15 - 25 year old market segment which has a large awareness of AIDS.

AIDS is literally everywhere on Facebook unless you block it. You can even pay for more AIDS on Facebook!

        • Thanks for input re: AIDS branding.. my target population age is 20-40 women suffering from endometriosis.

        • @cuteduck: If you're targeting people that already have the condition, odds are pretty good they're using Google to get more information. I'd recommend you get a consultant to advise you on Search Engine Optimisation and Search Engine Marketing so that when people in Australia are searching for those terms your website or your facebook pages are in the top listings. You have clear search words for what they're after - it might be easier for you to target people searching for something specific. In Facebook, you'd more likely just be targeting all women aged 20-40 that like or have looked at similar pages (harder to target is what I'm saying).

        • @Halo375: Yes, Google is the search tool (I don't use google ads though). Social media marketing is very new to me. Health care system in Australia is highly regulated. The reason I am using Facebook is to create "marketing hype" i.e positive patient experience or journey. I would not be able to put the patient testimonial on my website.

      • Hi Cuteduck,

I'm a Facebook blueprint partner (certified marketing specialist), not that this means much really..

Anyway, I spend my 9-5 digital marketing for my finance brokerage.

In my experience, the most effective paid social campaign for NFP that I have seen is one recently being run for 'Cars for Cancer'. However, it's for fundraising rather than awareness.

MND is probably the classic example of how to do a good awareness campaign on social. (icebath challenge).

        Cheers

        • Hi malich, it is not NFP. I am trying to 'new marketing way' of targeting audience (patients) through social media.
In the healthcare system, marketing is highly regulated.

if you advertise on facebook and have a coinciding Instagram account, it will advertise on both platforms

    • Thanks.. will it synchronise automatically??

      • yep. 100%. If both are linked it will…i've done it a few times myself

  • In terms of organic reach Instagram is the best option. Your images need to look visually appealing, and you get all of your engagement from the hashtags that you use / followers that you accrue. Post the image with an engaging caption, and then leave a comment with up to 30 hashtags. The hashtags obviously need to be related to your product / locations that you service. Certain topics also have popular hashtags (e.g. #onfleek for eyebrows), you should find out what these are for your topic. You get a few extra features when converting your Instagram account to a business account, though some people are skeptical about this, as Facebook pages have next to no organic reach these days.

  • In my experience Facebook has been the most effective social media marketing tool. Are you getting much traffic you your website? Facebook ads aren't particularly effective if you are just boosting posts. If you install the Facebook pixel on your website you can remarket to people who have visited your site. You can also create lookalike audiences, ie Facebook targets users with browsing habits that are similar to your website visitors.

    • This is my first time playing with social media marketing tool. I am trying to integrate my website with social media to generate the inquiry. I am in the healthcare market; hence the marketing is heavily regulated by AHPRA

  • Hi Cuteduck,

Im rather confused. Yes, our Healthcare system has strict regulation but how does that relate to SNS marketing? If you're planning to launch a noise marketing campaign over SNS whilst breaching regulations, be warned…

    • Our regulation is still in infancy level yet.. hence social media campaign is the most effective
