Cheapest Option to Buy Raspberry Pi 3

Hi all,

I plan to diy a dash cam using Rasp berry Pi 3 (or it can be Zero ?). Where can I buy it?

So far searching Ozbargain i found Arrow is the cheapest https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/307796 but not many people reported successful orders except OP

I know I can buy it on element14 or rs online for 57$ (incl GST). Raspberry Pi does not seem to be on sale for ever

P/S: I don't mind waiting

Why not just have a capable dash cam for ~$100, with a capacitor not battery and no messing around?

It's not exactly the sort of thing you want to fail at the critical moment

Linux users like pissing about with things that don't work :D

  • raspberry pi zero is much cheaper

  • They go for about $60 shipped on eBay. Wait for the next 10-15% off code?

    • Last 15% off sale had only 1 store selling Raspberry 3, and it was like 50 something. Not really a "sale"

  • zapals coupon code SMP0437 Raspberry Pi 3 at the moment for USD $34.77 (AU$46.30)

  • So u wanna 360 view your car like a radar system huh? Pats (profanity) cat, interesting..

You'll be waiting forever, Rpi don't go on sale. They are already great value, best you can do is buy through eBay using a coupon code and getting some cashback.

  • I got mine from here:

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2016-new-Raspberry-PI-model-…

    $53 including a case.

  • If you don't need wireless or bluetooth, this would be my pick. RPi3 will make for a bulky unit so I'd be opting for the Zero.

The board itself is cheap enough but you'll no doubt spend another $20 or so on the connectors you need to get the zero up and running. You'll also want a case, Adafruit has a couple of Zero cases which also have mountings for the camera module so that would probably make for a nice clean unit, you can probably order them through Core as well.

What capture software are you going to use?

  • Try this, I got mine from here as well. A$45.53 at the time of posting, along with free overnight shipping (ships from the US) and tracking. It was the UK made version, took around a week to reach.

edit: Sorry jumped the gun, didn't read the entire post. But yea, count me in for one with a successful order from Arrow.

    • Thanks, just order one.
