[Closed] Which phone plan should I get?

Hi guys, I need help with choosing a mobile phone plan. I am currently using Optus pre-paid and I go through $30 credits in just 2-3 weeks recently. I think it's because I have been sending international sms alot more recently.

Which plan do you think I should get? Should I get a SIM-only plan? Or does a plan that comes with a mobile phone offer better value? I'm fine with any provider, but my budget is up to $30/mth.

Thanks for the help!

  • Virgin Cap plans have International SMS included in the Cap…

And you can sign up to a Cap Plan with no contract period if you BYO Phone… they even give you bonus credit if you do so!
Virgin uses the Optus Network (they're 100% owned by Optus), so your phone reception will be identical to your current experience.

The $29 EasyCap with BYO phone gives you 100Mb data and $230 calls (plus free calls and SMS to other Virgin users.

  • need to check if vodafone caps incude international sms.
but i think they are good value with the nrma offer.

10% discount and 3 months free access.

you can get a $29 cap plan and a free phone which you can
sale to cover the cost of the plan so effectively
you may only be paying $15-$20 a month or nothing.

i know someone posted they got the samsung galxay s for total cost of
around $600 on a 12 months contract. i know they sell for at least $700
so not only does it cover your plan cost for the year but you can make a
profit. but i think its was on a $69 cap which is high and can be a waste
if you not going to be using all the credit.

  • Thanks for the replies.

I'm considering the Samsung Jet phone on $29 Cap, but I can't decide if I should get it from Vodafone or 3. Vodafone has a $100 credit while 3 has a 50% off for the first 12 months..

  • Why get the Jet when you can get the Samsung Wave? $19 virgin plan

    • Oh the wave is better than the jet? Gosh, I haven't gotten a new phone for years! I have absolutely no idea which phone models are good/bad/old/new..

      • Wave is the same hardware as the Galaxy S, put simply, it's the most powerful phone hardware on the market at the moment and will remain so until the Desire HD is released.
The Wave hardware blows the Jet out of the water in every way.
Whether you like the Samsung "Bada" operating system that runs on the phone is another issue…
It's supposed to be pretty decent by all accounts.

        • I see. My brother just a wave and he seems to like it! The wave seems sold out on the $19 virgin plan. And I can't get a wave on a $29 cap. So…

Anyway, thanks for the input guys! I think I will get either a Samsung Wave or a Nokia 6700 on 3's $29 cap. Not the most worthwhile phones, I know. Hee(:
