Your Thoughts on Premium Car Detailing?

I wash cars. This is a promo video I recently had filmed showcasing a 10hr detail and application of ceramic coating paint protection (not the same stuff they try to sell it you for 2k at the stealership). Does watching this change your perception of professional detailing and paint protection? Great to hear what savvy bargain hunters think, especially since most people view cars as a point 'A' to point 'B' depreciating asset worthy of a Westpac grad.

You've already spent too much on a glorified MX5, why throw good money after bad?

I had one of my cars detailed and loved the results. The detailer taught me how to wash the car without scratching the paint and years later the paint still looked like a mirror. I'd do it again when I get a nice $80,000 investment car

Yeah, it's a waste of time detailing your ozbargain Camry.

It's good to get if you plan to hold on to your car for a long time.
If you plan on selling the car after 5 yrs then there is not point in getting the paint protection as factory clear coat will easily last 5-7 years.

  • I dislike mechanical/rotary polishers. they inevitably leave marks. by hand only.

      random orbital ;)

  • I think you're appealing to a very niche market with a 10hr detail, I'm almost scared to ask how much it costs.

Watching the video itself didn't impact my perception of detailing and paint protection, in order to achieve that you'd need to provide more detail on the products you use and or the process, explaining it's point of difference in relation to other similar service providers in the market.

    • Thanks Gronk. Will take it on board. How much do you think this costs?

      • My best guess would be in the $500 - $700 range, but I'm making a lot of assumptions about your business model to arrive at that figure.

  • It's a waste of money unless you have a show car.
