  • Was going to jump on this but I want USB ports pointing down.

Interesting the wording "Compliant with AU/NZ Standards" - suggests to me they claim it conforms, but it's not independently certified.

    • Why would you want the USB ports pointing down? I thought the ports pointing up would be practical?

high-ish powerpoint in ensuite cabinet where I charge 2 devices overnight

        • Ah! Makes sense. Just thought that might be the case when you've responded.

Turn power of at switchboard, unscrew PowerPoint faceplate. Twist 180 degree. Refit faceplate. Turn power back on?

You now have ports at the top?

          @nayfen:

no screws or removeable faceplate in the image. I doubt you could do that on any cheap, certified device

        • @effgee:
Talking about the GPO I guess

        • @Steptoe:

          Ah, I misread that.
          Still, no thanks.

The USB ports point down in China, where they use the same plug configuration as us but upside down. Kogan just calls the plug reversal a "feature" to lure you into buying it.

      • That's what I thought initially, but it looks like the prongs are half insulated, which suggests its at least slightly more than an upside down Chinese adapted.

  • Thanks OP, been looking for one of these!!!

    • For a "3.4 amp" charger, the "Max. Current Per Port 2.4A (When one device is connected)" attribute looks curious. Also not that there is no mention of QC 2 or 2.
This may not be quite what your are expecting…

      • Yes, this is just an average charger, because 3.4A is spread across 4 ports. It is only good if it is 3.4A per port.

      • Yep that's fine for my use. More about the 4 port total for plug management, and 2.4 for one device. Charging wireless headphones/ps4 controller/ipad overnight.

Kogan ships from china and they hide this

    • Some items ship from their Port Melbourne warehouse. Ordered a pair of ski gloves last month and it arrived within 2 days whereas the ski pants took almost 1.5 weeks as they were shipped from HK.

  • This charger appears to deliver a total of 3.4A across the 4 ports. So if 4 devices are connected, it may be only delivering 850mA per port, which isn't enough to fast charge devices.

i had their kogan 4 port travel charger, was horrible it generated so much interference that one of the devices kept on starting and stopping charge and my mobile screen was just unusable when plugged in. googled and lots of people complained about the same not sure if this is any different.

alternatively also bought their kogan branded steamp mop, also a massive flop didnt clean the floor at all but left loads of water on the ground.

    both items refunded.

Noooo, I bought the steam mop a few months ago but haven't had a chance to use it yet :(

becareful with their returns, they first try to get you to send them back.

you have they say its faulty and dangerous, then they say fine cut the cord send us a picture and we refund you

Are you saying their mop was a flop?

  • Was $29.

Total 3.4A for all 4 ports? This isn't 2007 when 0.5-1.0A USB charging is standard. I wouldnt buy this if you are serious about wanting to charge multiple devices. Go for 2.4A on each port at a minimum, if not QC. They are flogging off old stock. Get a Tronsmart on specials instead when they come up for about the same price and a separate universal power adapter.
